sdwski
I have read a ton of posts on hear about the sizing of the Radar Senate. I feel that I am right in between 67 and 69, hoping to get someone's opinion. I am 5'11", 220lbs (strong build). In my younger days I was running passes at 22' off @36mph, but now am just having fun at 32mph. I think the 67' will work for me, but I don't want to throw down that kind of money and get the wrong size ski. Should I consider the 69? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Baller aupatking Posted June 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2020 At your weight I lean toward 69 but, paired with your height and your described “strong build” 67 seems like it would be fine. *To me*. I’m with you, buying a new ski at the wrong size is scary. That Senate is wide enough to carry a fair amount of weight without it working you too hard. The biggest thing is that 69 would be a lot of ski to turn. Height doesn’t matter as much as weight, in some respects, but in the turn, extra height is more of a lever. I think you’ll be very happy with the 67 Senate
sdwski
Thank you very much. I should mention the 220lbs is post quarantine weight gain. When gyms are open and we are back to a normal routine, I hover right at 210lbs. Thanks again.
Baller KRoundy Posted June 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2020 I'd suggest that your decision is not 67 or 69, but rather 69 or 71. At 32 MPH and your current weight, or even your goal weight, a 71 might be a lot more fun.
Baller Orlando76 Posted June 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2020 I skied a 69 Senate when I was 210-215. Way too much ski for me.
Baller Anderson Posted June 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 7, 2020 I tried a 67 2019 Senate Pro this spring and while I loved the consistency, it felt too small for me -- I'm 6-2 and was skiing at 215 (bloody Covid weight gain!). I'd try a
Baller Jetsetr Posted June 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 8, 2020 69/70....
Baller dbutcher Posted June 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted June 8, 2020 I would ask Radar. They have some great people at the Radar factory. Subject to that, I'd go 69". I am a course skier, 195 lbs, and 6'2". I ski on a 69" 2019 Senate Pro, but only at 30 mph (M9 max speed). A couple years ago I had a 67" Senate. I prefer the larger ski perhaps because of the slow boat speed. It turns just fine and develops more speed easier than the 67 I had.
