Baller ironhorse Posted July 6, 2020 Baller Share Posted July 6, 2020 Has anyone ever had a ski handle fold during a deep water start? My Masterline radius handle bent in the middle and folded into a V shape. I had the same thing happen with a Masterline about 5 years ago.
Baller Andre Posted July 6, 2020 Baller Share Posted July 6, 2020 Not me. But with a handlename like ''ironhorse''... :) I do use Radius and alike style handle but never folded one but read some stories.I doubt the aluminum tubing was defect... I'm 190 lbs. My ski finish in 16.95 but my ass is out of tolerance!
Baller thager Posted July 6, 2020 Baller Share Posted July 6, 2020 I have seen many radius handles of various companies fold over through the years.
Baller_ Rednucleus Posted July 6, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted July 6, 2020 How old is the handle & how often do you ski?
Baller ReallyGottaSki Posted July 6, 2020 Baller Share Posted July 6, 2020 No or should i say Not yet. Clydesdale division?
Baller ironhorse Posted July 6, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted July 6, 2020 @Rednucleus - the rope/handle is around 4 years old and gets used 30 - 40 times/year. It's then hung in the boat shed. Sounds like it may be more common than I had thought. When the last one did this, I thought it was just a one off defect.
Baller rockdog Posted July 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted July 7, 2020 Mine did exactly this first set. Straight handle bent in the middle. They replaced it.
Baller ironhorse Posted July 7, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted July 7, 2020 Just stopped by my dealer who replaced the handle no charge. Still a fan of the Masterline products.

Baller hammerski Posted July 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted July 8, 2020 Been running ML 13” bent for years. I usually just replace them every two years. Never had a problem ???
Baller ironhorse Posted July 8, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted July 8, 2020 Yeah, every 2 years will be the key. Mine wasn't 4 years old as I thought. When they checked the system it was bought Christmas 2018. Apparently there were some bad handles identified a couple years back (weak aluminum) that was a one off batch. I'll be replacing the line now to keep everything current.
