KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysian water-ski sensation Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah has received an invitation to participate in the 2014 Moomba Masters in Melbourne, Australia.

The invitation to one of the most famous professional waterski tournament from March 5 to 10, was announced by the Malaysian Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (MWWF).

MWWF in a statement Thursday said Aaliyah has become the youngest competitor ever to be invited to a top notch pro waterski tournament.

"Last year she became the youngest water-skier to be invited for the Junior Moomba for the world's top under-17 water-skier. She qualified for the finals and finished in 7th place.

"Her time to win will come later but for now the good news is that she can gain much experience from this very high profile world event which is watched by more than a 10,000 spectators," said MWWF executive secretary Hanifah Yoong in the statement, issued in Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, Aaliyah said she had never expected to be invited for the Moomba Masters so soon although she was looking forward to participate in the event in a few years time.

"This is totally way out for me and I hope I can maintain my composure when competing with multiple world champions like Clementine Lucine and Erika Lang," said Aaliyah who is currently ranked 54th in the world amongst open women and world number 15 for under 17 girls.
