2015_11-01.jpg2015_11-02.jpgHistory will be made this weekend. Eleven water sports and beach sports will come together for the first time from August 28th to September 6th

in the Italian city of Pescara on the Adriatic Sea. Organised by the Italian Olympic Committee CONI, invitations were issued to 24 Mediterranean Olympic Committees and to the relevant International Federations. All 24 countries have taken up the invitation.

Wakeboard and Waterski have been invited to take part in these major multi-sport games. The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) has worked hard to bring Wakeboard to the Olympic Games. The inclusion of Wakeboard in these inaugural Mediterranean Beach Games brings it a step closer. Waterski Slalom and Tricks are also on the programme. A total of 50 IWWF athletes, men and women, will represent the Mediterranean Nations of Italy, France, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Serbia and Egypt.

2015_11-03.jpg2015_11-04.jpgFeatured in the impressive lineup are international Wakeboard stars Giorgia Gregorio (ITA) and Lucas Langlois (FRA), together with Waterski stars Manon Costard (FRA), Marie Vympranietsova (GRE), Clementine Lucine (FRA) and Pierre Ballon (FRA). All are World Cup participants and some of the highest ranked IWWF athletes of 2015.

Rider Giorgia Gregorio (ITA), at just 18 years of age, took the silver medal at the Europe Africa Wakeboard Championships last year and Lucas Langlois (FRA) is a past French National Wakeboard Champion. Slalom skier Manon Costard hit the headlines some days ago as she was crowned Europe Africa Slalom Champion last week in Paris where Marie Vympranietsova (GRE) was a gold medalist in Jump but will compete this weekend in Slalom. Clementine Lucine (FRA) was the first female in the world ever to break 10,000 points in Tricks and with Pierre Ballon’s personal best of 12,060 also in Tricks and a US Masters title already in his collection, this weekend is guaranteed to see some great performances on the water in Pescara.

With perfect weather of 30C predicted for this Adriatic Sea venue on Italy’s east coast, the official opening ceremony will take place in Pescara’s impressive Stadio del Mare on Friday, August 28th.
