  • Kite Freeriding In Maui?

     Share

Pro Kite rider Jon McCabe wanted to see what it felt like to combine the revolutionary HO Freeride ski with his love for kiting. He wanted to test if this ski, to see if it’s drag was truly low enough to take on the open ocean and be towed only by the power of the wind.  After all, this is the ski that is hailed to work behind anything in any water condition. Why not take it out in the rough ocean waters behind a kite? Check it out!

Why it worked:The Freeride is crafted to ride high and light in the water and employs a wakeboard style edge in the back half of the ski for far less drag than conventional skis, It also features speed skin on the base of the ski, a texturized material similar to fish scales that break up the water molecules and allow the ski to move across the water without the friction. In addition to being highly efficient, it employs steep carve rails and a shark fin that allow the ski to cleanly navigate choppy conditions like no other waterski.
