Team Connelly skier Sacha Descuns set a (pending) French national record this past weekend scoring 1@43-off at the Sport Center Slalom Cup in Frespech of Southern France. Sacha joins a short list, of now 10 skiers, to run 41 and get into 43-off at 36mph.

"Running 41 was really special for me because I wanted to run it since 4 years old, but I never had the opportunity to do it because of my multiples injuries. After the exit gate, I thought about all the time spent on the couch with my cast and all the pain in my leg I had to deal with, and I realized how much effort I had to make to be here, in the water, ready to enter the course at 43 for the first time in a tournament." Sacha explains.

The 24 year old Frenchman has been a huge contributor in the development of the Connelly GT the past few years, but has unfortunately been battling injuries, limiting time on the water and keeping him out of the tournament scene. Suffering a broken tibia, fibula as well as bones in his ankle and foot dampened Sacha's expectations as to where he could get back to in terms of his skiing.

Coach Vinny, of Vincent Soubiron Ski School, explains, "As he couldn't use his front leg due to strength and pain, I asked Sacha to move his center of gravity further back on the ski. Immediately his center of mass was moving much better%E2%80%A6 We were both very impressed at how this allowed him to get back in the game. For 6 weeks straight we only worked at 32 off until the 2 sides were symmetric and he was used to the new body placement and vision phases." He continues, "%E2%80%A6The Connelly GT was absolutely perfect for it. It helped Sacha gain even more confidence with a ski he knows he can trust, that won't blow out the tail%E2%80%A6 The GT has a singular way of sitting on the water that allows you to play with a lot of things%E2%80%A6 Sacha has a lot of potential and I am sure he is going to improve his record even more, whether this year or next."
