  • Seven U.S. Athletes Win Junior U.S. Open Titles

    Seven U.S. water ski athletes won titles in respective events at the 14th annual Lake Dwellers Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships, June 7-8, at Bullneck Lake in Scott, Ark. The two-round, world-record capability event featured Men and Women divisions (ages 17 to 21), in addition to Boys and Girls divisions (ages 16 and under). Some of the world's top junior water ski athletes competed for titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.

    Other athletes winning titles were: Giannina Bonnemann (Germany), Women's tricks (8,170 points) and overall (2,860.2 points); Taryn Grant (Canada), Women's slalom (3 buoys at 38 feet off); Martin Kolman (Czech Republic), Men's jumping (202 feet) and overall (3,000.0 points); and Neilly Ross (Cananda), Girls' tricks (7,630 points).
