Baller Kelvin Posted March 3, 2011 Baller Share Posted March 3, 2011 I ran across this ski lake on Google Earth the other day. It isn't listed on Scoke's worldwide map of ski lakes.  http://tinyurl.com/navasota-ski-lakeAny ideas who skis there? Baller ForrestGump Posted March 3, 2011 Baller Share Posted March 3, 2011 I have no idea. I pass there all the time and have never seen that. Turn island to turn island it seems to be 2200 ft. I'm gonna make some calls and see if I can find out who's it is.
east tx skier
Shane, my first thought was that it was you all's place (recalling your location from an old PN thread).
Baller ForrestGump Posted March 3, 2011 Baller Share Posted March 3, 2011 We're not too far from there. I pass within 10 minutes of there about 3 times a week on the way to our place, though.
Baller lhoover Posted March 3, 2011 Baller Share Posted March 3, 2011 Guys, that lake is owned by John and Sue Wimberley who moved there from Kingwood. Pat Deegan designed it and finished it about 3 years ago, but there was already a small lake there and very few trees had to be removed. It is gorgeous, spring fed, pink sand lined, all natural. Do not know how it reacts to prevailing wind as it lays NWxSE; however, it does sit in a little of a bowl and has great trees. John is a big 'footer and I think it is pushing 3,000 ft, Shane. Note N turn island is closer to the surveyed, anchored course, yet out of the way for a straight 'foot run. John is not overly friendly, Shane, and my advice is DO NOT approach without notification. See me for his numbers or call me sometime and we'll go out there. After notification!
Baller ForrestGump Posted March 3, 2011 Baller Share Posted March 3, 2011 Yeah, I figured it was 3000 end to end and that whoever owned it must be a footer, based on the layout. Don't worry, I won't drop in. It's interesting, though. Kind of a cool layout it looks like.
