NEVER, NEVER ski with Scott Smith from waterskicancun.com !!!! (Sorry, my English is not the best) I do every year, my winter training in warmer countries, because it is too cold in Europe. I was in South Africa, Thailand, Sri Lanka, USA and also in Cancun (years ago). Unfortunately Fernando Perles is no longer in Cancun. I skied many years with him. In the search for wateraki locations I found waterskicancun.com. In December 2011 I finally booked 2-3 sets per day with Scott Smith. He confirmed the reservation. After his confirmation I booked the flights and the hotel from 8 February 2012 to 23 February 2012. As I arrived in Cancun I called Scott but only the answering machine answered. I left behind the message that I arrived in Cancun and want to ski, but he did not respond. I tried many times to reach him. Unfortunately, without success. After a week I left a message, that I will contact the police He called me the first time and said that he had meant that I will arrive on 15 February in Cancun. He told me, that he was in Texas with his mother. He said that he only needs a quick shower and that he would call me back in 2 hours. He never responded until now. Finally I found a very nice guy named Carlos. He owns an old Mastercraft and could pull me once. Unfortunately during the first ski the cylinder head gasket did break. So I could ski during 2 weeks just 10 minutes and spent more than $ 15,000. Does anyone know anything about this guy? I've heard that he has been kicked out of Club Med and that he has problems with alcohol.

@SwissSkier

I have no reason to doubt that your account is inaccurate but I need you to use your real name. A lot of the success of this site is based on integrity. I am moving this thread to the Members Only Section. I will not allow a negatived review of anything without the authors real name. If you do not post your name I will delete in a few days.

I skied a set with Scott Smith last March in Cancun. I got his info from WakeScout. I wasn't expecting much and it was a good workout. That's all I wanted. I borrowed his equipment and took 6 passes at 28. I wouldn't book it for anything but time on the water and exercise. He was where he was supposed to be on time. I had taken a cab from our hotel. He isn't the old jumper from North Carolina. He skied with Eddie Brown and some of the old guard in Texas.

Sorry to hear about your incident. I was in Cancun with work and contacted Scott for quick set. The guy worked hard to find some good water and set up a ski for me to use. Not the best conditions, but I was just looking to get out on the water and get away from my co-workers. It served its purpose.
