Baller Dacon62 Posted August 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2013 Has anyone out there played around with the SSP (a manually adjustable cavitation plate attached to wedge bracket) on a 07-11 Lxi to improve the longer line (15-22 off) wake by lifting the back of the boat? Does it work? What are your observations?
Baller GregHind Posted August 7, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 7, 2013 I've seen lots of Australian boat builders do this with great success but never heard about it being done on an LXI. I'd love to know what the outcome is. Matrix do it with their Sorrento and Expression (using power trim tabs by Lectrotab). I've also seen it on XFactor and others. Matrix has a flat pad on the back which transitions to the tab. I've been tempted to do it to mine.
buski
http://www.themalibucrew.com/forums/index.php?/topic/29283-ssp-plate-for-response-lxi/ Don't think there were direct reports of it on an 07-11 lxi for slalom but seems like every other hull, even those it was designed for made the wake a lot harder. It was for footing anyway. If you try it though let us know.
Baller Dacon62 Posted August 10, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted August 10, 2013 Thank you @buski that forum post was very helpful. Looks like the ideal way to improve the Lxi wake is to buy a TXi.
crashman
The 2008 Rlxi that my ski partner has is equipped with the plate and has very nice wakes at 15 off. Here's a pic of -15 31mph if it helps. Right now I ski equally well behind it and my 2001 nautique. We haven't tried it without the plate so I can't compare with/ without.
