Baller Booze Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 ...saw one on FB Marketplace. A quick search yielded a couple more for sale in the SE. Just curious about the history, if anyone knows. An honorable mention on obscure inboards is "Ski-rific" Anyone remember those?
Baller Jordan Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 I remember seeing them in the Waterski Magazine boat test edition. There were always a few small makers giving it a shot.
Baller BrianKennedy91 Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 They also made an IO called super skier
Baller Orlando76 Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 Totally politically incorrect name today. Today the wadded up panty PC police would call it Freedom Skier. Seems like I always stumble across the IO version but rarely the DD.
Baller ForrestGump Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 Dixie Boat Works from North Carolina. Their factory burned down in the early 90s if I remember correctly. They never rebuilt it and just shut down as far as I know.
Baller ALPJr Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 Was a ski riffic on Boston craigslist last summer. Rough shape too.

Baller dbski Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 There is a ski-rrific on our lake.
Baller Bill22 Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 There is a soft spot in my heart for Dixie boats. I grew up skiing behind our family 19’ Dixie IO cuddy cabin with HUGE wakes.
Baller Bill22 Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 I have never skied or seen the Dixie DD in person.
Baller_ Wish Posted January 13, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted January 13, 2020 Didn't Supras factory burn to the gound as well in the 90s ?Hmmmmm? (Insert sarcasm font)
Baller fu_man Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 So there was a ski-rrific and a ski-tastic? I can imagine a bunch of guys around a table in suits trying to get their new inboard boat to production. "Hey Ralph, I heard a new boat is coming to market. They are calling it 'ski--rrific'". "Larry, our boat is going to be better than terrific. It's going to be fantastic!" "What should we call it?"
Baller jepski Posted January 13, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 13, 2020 Lots of Dixie boats (of all versions) still on Lake Gaston in NC and there are a couple DD's near me on Smith Mountain Lake, one was for sale locally; a bowrider (similar to a 205) with some innovative interior designs. Pretty sure wooden stringers, etc. There is a Dixie owners forum somewhere on the interwebs....
Baller mmosley899 Posted January 22, 2020 Baller Share Posted January 22, 2020 @Booze my brother’s father in law had one years ago. Not a bad little open bow ski boat for the time. Were not many open bow direct drive inboards around then. Boatguy21
Just acquired a 1985 dixie super skier 299 with direct drive. I'm in florida so boats are required to have a title, but this boat does NOT have one. Boat has 351 windsor engine with no spark. Long shot, but if anyone is interested in buying for cheap, let me know. Located in Tampa Florida. 727-420-9414 .
Baller ScottScott Posted December 31, 2021 Baller Share Posted December 31, 2021 My brother (in NC) had a Dixie in/out back in the late 80/early 90s. 18 ft bow rider with a 5L. Fast boats.
