Baller Sebgo Posted November 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2020 What ski would everyone's recommendation be for a 7 year old boy (50+ pounds) who is currently with successfully running the course @ slow speeds (17.5+/-). I'm thinking more for next year? D3 Evo, Jr. Radar, Connelly Prodigy, are some of the ones in consideration. Thanks in advance!

renz
The TRA has worked well for my son. He is about 60 lbs and has skied it from 17.5mph - 30 mph.
Baller Bdecker Posted November 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2020 The 59” Radar would be awesome! My son started on a 59” O’Brien Elite at about that age/size. He has since progressed to a 63.5” Vapor. He just might eek out a 3rd season on it.
Baller Skoot1123 Posted November 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2020 My 9yo daughter had great success on an HO Syndicate Pro 65” ski. Radar front boot and an HO toe loop on the back. She worked her way from 15.5 mph full course to getting 3 buoys at 23 mph. She certainly will be able keep using this ski for years to come. Baller Intheday Posted November 11, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2020 TRA to 32mph from age 6-12 this ski worked well. See quite a few on the D3 Evo now but skiing at higher levels.
Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted November 12, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted November 12, 2020 Ski size is much more important than brand at his stage. Either a traditional slalom in the 63-65" range or a wide shaped ski. You need lots of surface area to keep him from sinking. If he progresses normally, he can use that until he gets to 30mph and ready to shorten the line, then go to a 62" "performance" slalom. Baller ral Posted November 12, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 12, 2020 Agree with @Bruce_Butterfield. My oldest used the ski below up until getting into 30 mph. Younger is using it now.
Baller sunperch Posted November 14, 2020 Baller Share Posted November 14, 2020 @Sebgo We put our kids on one of our old skis to increase stability behind the boat. Son even had to ski on my pink Goode 9800 until he hit max speed and began to shorten the line. Teaching the kids proper position behind the boat (longer ski) is more important at this phase than teaching them to turn (shorter ski). In my mind, are you trying to build a good skier (position behind the boat = long term) or are you trying to gain a few bouys (working on turns = short term)?
