Baller Luzz Posted March 8, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 8, 2021 I can't begin to tell you both how much I agree with what you said, especially about Juniors. The regular IWWF list is how juniors are normally selected, and regular events occurred all around the world, even here in Europe… Ski coach at Jolly Ski, Organizer of the San Gervasio Pro Am (2023 Promo and others), Co-Organizer of the Jolly Clinics. Baller NikolG Posted March 12, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 12, 2021 Couldn’t agree more.Tons of tournaments here & some abroad. Many Juniors from all over the world were in Florida working their butts off. The ranking list for Juniors is accurate & chock-full of current scores, a record tournament available most weekends. The Juniors most affected by Covid were already invited, as they are defending Champions. In addition, US Nationals WAS held in 2020, yet Champions don’t get an invite like in every prior year. Yet US Masters Wakeboard are taking their 2020 National Champions to same US Masters. Also Moomba 2020 was very well attended, Waterski Champions from Moomba don’t get a Masters Invite like in the past, Yet Wakeboard Champions from Moomba 2020 do. Nautique is basically saying the 2020 Waterski season counts for nothing, zero, nada. For Wakeboard they totally acknowledge the scores. So skiers can spend their money and a whole month in Florida this Spring (again!) and do it all over (again!) to re-qualify. IMO the same criteria as in the past should apply and hold an LCQ, To deviate from the ranking list, especially for Juniors, is just crazy $$$. Baller Broussard Posted March 12, 2021 Baller Share Posted March 12, 2021 @disland Could work for pros, but a lot of them are under contract with Nautique anyway. How would that have any effect with juniors? Masters would just take the next ones on the list to fill the tournament. These juniors have little to no name recognition with the general public. Hell, only a few of the pros do. .
Administrators Horton Posted March 12, 2021 Author Administrators Share Posted March 12, 2021 @disland Masters is the most important event on the calendar besides the Worlds. Skiing in it is the pinnacle of many skiers careers. Baller LeonL Posted May 5, 2021 Baller Share Posted May 5, 2021 I missed this thread when it was active, thus the revival. Seems like a mess. From the aspect of junior skiers, the incongruity of wakeboard national champs being invited, but water ski national champs not (as in the past) is what strikes me as very strange. Who really made that call and what criteria was used in that decision?
