Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted September 2, 2021 Baller_ Share Posted September 2, 2021 Ok ? How many of you grease your hitch pin on a monthly basis???
Baller ReallyGottaSki Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 Is that what the kids are calling it these days?
Baller keithh2oskier Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 I remove mine every time I tow since I fold my tongue, I have never added Grease to it in the 5 years I have had the boat. Is that just to make it so it can be removed? Mine has no trouble moving.
Baller Zman Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 If we adhered to every warning to the T, and the frequencies recommended, heeding warnings would be a full time job. B) But, do take note, and apply some common sense.
Baller oldjeep Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 My swing pin gets removed a couple times every week, never put any grease on it though. Can't say if the trailer has any warning stickers on it, the capacity/Vin sticker is the only one I recall.
Baller cacman Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 Mine is rusted in. I've tried soaking it with various things. Not sure what to do.
Baller 2Valve Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 Yep, I'm anal about maintenance on all my "sheenery".
Baller skihacker Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 @cacman , try a ball joint press, careful not to deform the skinny end, if that fails the red speed wrench is next, followed by paint touch up??
Baller A_B Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 These warnings are no different than the Malibu bs. Someone probably hurt themself trying to pull a frozen pin out and so now we all have to get a warning label for it. If it starts getting sticky put some lube on it. Geez. Baller BraceMaker Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 @A_B exactly but this trailer manufacturer did the job. Sticker UT0013 is standardized probably by DOT The pin grease is probably after the 100th person griping that it was seized. NMMA has label standards. Would it impact a buying decision if when looking at that open bow boat it stated area not to be occupied while in motion.
Tracks72
I grease mine monthly I promise my trailer is under their!
Baller rq0013 Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 I just unstuck mine and greased it last weekend. It’s a 2017 MC trailer that sits out in the TX sun and humidity. Took a hammer, pb blaster and punch to get it out.
Baller skimtb Posted September 2, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 2, 2021 MC started putting bow capacity info on the yellow stickers after the wakeboat incident a while back. Assume others are now doing the same.
Baller jhughes Posted September 3, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 3, 2021 You could look at a 1990 correct craft and see a million more warnings than any other brand. That has carried through to this day with Nautique, they have always been ahead of the curve on warning labels without a doubt. Half of my 2000 dashboard is warnings and they are still very prominent on the 2016 and beyond. As for trailer maintenance I'd say this is a very neglected area of boater attention in general, sadly. ToddF
I do now, after ten years of not doing it and finally getting it out, well worth the trouble to remove and grease somewhat regular.
Baller liquid d Posted September 3, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 3, 2021 If Malibu had a warning on the open bow.....
