  1. You're not far off from running that pass. Focus on two things: balance and connection.

Notice that in your wake crossing your hips are still a little behind you thus leading to poor connection and loss of power. I like that you don't panic and try to rip hard turns at your hardest pass, it shows control

  2. @adamhcaldwell After seeing the example with nate I think I'm starting to understand what you're getting at. Are you suggesting that we need to achieve the required change in yaw through the transition without rolling too hard onto the inside edge and thus stopping the outbound trajectory of the ski? And by creating more roll stability and a little more freedom in yaw, it becomes easier to achieve this?
  3. I was going to make a poll but not sure I can on mobile.

At -35, -38 and shorter, do most of you actually start the turn well before the ball to conserve space, or do you feel that there simply isn't enough available width to do that?

At -35 and shorter I get the feeling in my own skiing that the latter is true. It could just be discomfort on my part, or maybe I'm lacking something in my technique?

A little background in my skiing, I first started running -32 about 4 years ago. I've run -35 twice in practice at 36mph, and scored 2 and 3 in tournaments more times than I can remember. Just this week I tried it at 34 and stroked it my second try, and did that again the next day

  4. It's interesting to see that there are more people than I previously thought that are in a similar situation to me. I've struggled with my onside my entire career, mostly due to a pi$$ poor transition into 2/4/6 (RFF).

While it's not easy to slam an offside turn and make up space, I can pretty easily ride the line out to the buoy and finesse the ski back in on a tight, early line even if I'm in trouble. My bad transition into 2/4/6 is definitely what's holding me back from running more buoys. I get great one balls at -35, and even have gotten a decent one the few times I've made it to -38 in practice. The problem is I still can't control the line leaving the wakes into the other side.

  5. Go watch the video of Nate's 2.5@43 world record. You'll hear him say "2.25 would've been ideal, but 2.5 is a safe score." Did I ever say it's necessarily a good or bad thing ? No, I kept that one to myself. It's one of the only ways those guys have to make money so good for them. Also, isn't it generally that boat sponsors will only pay out once a year for a record? I heard this from someone at the ridge a long time ago, can't remember who
  6. I realize the boat path may or may not be legit, but remember that video of Andy running 3.5 in practice? Nate looked this past weekend like he has more than 3 in him right now. However, sandbagging for money means we won't see the scores upped by more than the minimum each time the record is broken. Someone will run it, but it'll be a decade from now at minimum unless politics change.
