  1. I was in Orlando over Christmas skiing, and during one of the days we went go-karting at Orlando Grand Prix and had a ton of fun. Fast karts to the point where you can drift turns and you pretty much have to brake to avoid crashing. Also we went to Warbird Adventures in Kissimmee, (roughly 20 minutes south of Orlando, a couple miles from Disney) and did 30 minute flights in T-6 fighter planes from WWII. It's a little pricey, but totally worth it. The pilots are very friendly, and let you do maneuvers on your own. If you add on the aerobatics option you get to do flips/rolls etc. which is completely worth it if you don't get motion sickness easily. Kennedy Space Center is really interesting for everyone. Lots of stuff to do there. If you go east to the beach I then Coconuts on the Beach is a really good restaurant with a patio right on the beach.
  2. It's cold here and I can't ski, which has caused me to come up with crazy ideas as to how I can ski in the winter. Obviously moving south makes the most sense, but why do things the easy way?

Everyone has thought of a 2100' x 300' machine shed for skiing indoors, (which, does anyone know whether you can have a 300' wide building with no center columns?) but I have found a way to take it a step further. Nautique already made an electric boat, but who wants to mess around with charging batteries all day? My ski barn would have a power cable running along the length of it, with a cord running down to the boat. It would be similar to a bumper car arena, where the cars have the pole going to the ceiling for power. Solar panels will be placed all over the roof to power the boat from the sun when possible. I'm sure we could find a way to put an underwater rail system in to keep the boat going in a straight line to eliminate driving variables as well. Heating the lake (or is it a pool?) would be expensive, but it could probably be done.

There you have it. An indoor lake that never has wind, can be skied in all year long, and is environmentally friendly. Now we just need someone to pay for it.

  3. @mwetskier‌ 99% of people on this site aren't going to make their own skis anymore. Heck, I can build my own fishing rod, but that isn't stopping companies from still selling them.

I think it is uncalled for that you are saying my handle guard is sloppy and made of unreliable materials, I believe that it is strong enough and well enough designed that it will get the job done. Come spring and if it fails, I will redesign it. Also I do not see how my design is "questionable," it's a plastic triangular guard that goes in the handle to stop any part of your body from getting injured. Nothing to question about that.

  4. @mwetskier‌ The TW design does look a lot better, but $60 is pretty costly for something that can be made for a lot cheaper. I can't make my own version of a ski boat or a ski so those must be bought.

TW's would be practical if he started selling them regularly and was able to lower the price. $20 would be a lot better for that. Until arm guards are readily available, making one seems to be the more practical option.

  5. Does Thomas Wayne have a patent that stops everyone else from manufacturing and selling their own version of a handle guard? One could make a decent side business out of making one and setting up an online store so people could actually buy it without hassle. Sell them for 10-15 dollars and there you go.

Edit: Here is his patent http://patents.justia.com/patent/7959481 and http://www.google.com/patents/US7959481 also contains the images for it

  6. There is literally no need for 32 speakers and 12 subs on one vehicle. Two subs will cause a truck to shake. I don't think I could stand to be on that boat with all of those speakers on full blast.
  7. It would be a real tragedy if all those extra speakers carried too much weight and the boat sank thus rendering it unable to throw 3 foot waves on shorelines...
  8. I made this handle guard from a plastic basket that already had holes drilled in it. Cut off a side of the basket, measure out the triangle for the handle, and attach to handle with zip ties. There is roughly 3.5 inches between handle and bottom of guard, so plenty of room for your hand to move around. mi44gmvnkvep.jpg
