  1. Update. I talked on the phone with my mecanic to get more details because he had only texted me. Turns out the seal where the shaft goes in was misplaced…plus in front of that there is a metal plate sealed with silicone and he thinks there was not enough of it. So most likely a bad assembly from the manufacturer.🤬

  2. Hey Ballers!

Here is the story first: I changed my transmission on my 200 for the new PCM 80A in 2021 during covid. There were no more parta for the 40. I put 230 hours on it since then and oil started to leak at the back bottom… no damages thank god. I noticed in time but the mecanic took it apart and realized that there no gaskets or seals. Freaking silicone or « crazy glue » like he said laughing. Not so funny if you run it with no oil long enough to f*#% up your almost new transmission.

Has anybody had the same issue? What did PCM say?  Its frustrating that I have to pay for that…

  3. Hey Ballers!

I recently changed my PCM transmission in my 2011 200. It had the 40A and since they don't make them anymore I now have the 80A. The mecanic installed the throttle cable in a way that the cable comes from the top of the engine instead of from the floor like it was with the 40A...Hope some of you understand what I mean but anyway, he installed it that way because the shifter on the transmission is located differently and it was the only way he could make it fit. But the problem now is that the boat goes foward when I gear it in reverse and backwards when I gear it foward!

Any of you had that problem or was able to adapt the cable properly to the 80A from a 40A pcm tranny? pictures if you have any would help and what brackets did you use to make it fit?

    Thanks!!

  4. @Laz #2 was the thing I wasn’t sure about. The rule book doesn’t say much about Safety requirements for boats so...very very gray area there.

For the slalom course approval, I got 2 permits from Transport Canada for 2 courses in 2 different province (ontario and quebec) on the same body of water and was surprised how easy it was. That was 3-4 years ago. The feeling I got is that they don’t give a crap about small buoys as they are not much of an obstacle to navigation.

  5. No longer criminal to drive a skier without a spotter.

The exception is there as you mentioned @Killer and cops should know about it but they don’t at least most of them, so you might get a ticket, but at least there is no more criminal accusation for it. But if you fit in the exception you will have to defend yourself in court which sucks!

I was told by a driver at a tournament that if the skier and driver are members of their association and they compete, or at least one of them, every time they ski is like a « formal training » which makes sense. I can't find anywhere if this was ever challenged in court.

Waterski Canada should clarify for us what is « Formal training ». I am one of those who skied and drove A LOT without a spotter! Skiing is more important than whatever the consequences are of not having a spotter

  6. @ballsohard, unless you’re on the Rideau Canal or the Trent–Severn Waterway you don’t need any permit from Parks Canada and get approval every year and etc.. it is pretty clear when you read their documents. what you need is a permit from Transport Canada under the Navigation Protection Program: https://tc.canada.ca/en/marine/apply-npp

They have a list of waterways for which you need a permit. There is a chance you might not need one. But, you should check with a lake association if you have one and also if the lake is in some kind of protected natural environment area/jurisdiction. Other than that you can do pretty much what you want but you can get sued by anyone who disapproves you installations.

Having a course near the shore with people staying there might be an issue. I don’t have that problem but I remember Transport Canada asking me that question when I applied.

  7. Hey everyone!

Tonight my pcm transmission on my 2011 nautique 200 slipped as I took off after 2 passes with a skier. I stopped immediately. I noticed it was not getting into gear as easily as 2 passes before too. I was able to take off Slowly And get baCk home. I checked the oil level and it was good. The transmission seemed warmer than usual but we had a unusually warm day here in Ontario today. Then I noticed a bit of air coming into the bowl of the water strainer because of a crack. I talked to a mechanic and he says it might have overheated a bit.

After it cooled down a bit, it was shifting into gear normally but I didn’t test drive it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is my transmission gone because it slipped twice on take off? Any thoughts? Thanks!!

  8. @gmut, Yes I did. I think I changed both knock sensor. Did the same again last year. I changed only one. you need to be careful with a new ones, if you drop it it can become faulty. If you don't have the diacom software, change them both, it might be cheaper than having a mechanic plug his computer and changing a part that is simply screwed in the block like any regular bolt.

If you have the diacom, it will tell you knock sensor 1 or 2 (if you have the same engine as mine). to know which is whcih you just unplug one and run the boat then unplug the other and run again and you will be able to figure out which is where. very simple fix and yes the boat runs fine even with the light on.

  9. SkiJay, I just tried the WF on my GT with a home made S-wing (denali) and really like the feeling. Offside feels impossible to screw up meaning I can put a lot of weight in the front without going OTF. It feels a tiny bit slower than with the CG fin and feels like I could smear more on my onside, which is impossible to blow out right now. I reduced my wing angle but I was wondering by reducing depth it would smear more but would it accelerate faster? or go bindings back line you suggest in the instructions?
  10. Or maybe the thermostat is not opening or not opening completely meaning the engine is really overheathing which is not good.. I have changed my thermostat once after a little over 1000hours. It was rusted and would not open at all but I can’t remember if it made the engine overheat. I am guessing it could.
