  1. I agree with @MattP  It would be great if there was an option for visitors to ski who aren't competing in nationals.  Maybe some of the owners on the lakes that aren't being used will pull skiers?  My son will be competing and if I come there to watch in person, I sure would love to get a set (or 2 or 3) in while I'm there!  Happy to pay for gas or work in exchange for ski pulls. :-)

  2. @bojans  I am curious about the same.  I still think it's incredibly sad how Nautique treated Jacinta Carol when she broke the record behind a different boat.  I think all athletes should try their best on any given day no matter who they are sponsored by and the sponsors should support the world record-breaking accomplishments of their athletes no matter what.  That's my two cents.

  3. My son attended an A&M recruitment weekend as well and he thought it was awesome.  I see more schools are offering this opportunity now so he plans to attend a few school weekends before making a final decision.  So far he has only attended the A&M weekend but he was highly impressed and is leaning towards going there as a result.  He loved everyone on the ski team, as well as the university so it gave him a really good glimpse into what college life is like there.

  4. @EM_. Thank you for this insight.  My kid wants to go pro and is asking to go to all these various record tournaments around the US and in other countries and I am not able to afford it at this time. The talent and scores are there, but the money is not.  Hopefully, all the new social media coverage and Youtube coverage of the sport will bring in more sponsors.  I've never been outside of the US (outside of Canada) so WOW, $70 flights?  That at least sounds promising.

  5. All great ideas. This way there can be different groups or "channels" that you can subscribe to just like slack. Advanced searching would be helpful as well. Sometimes I have trouble finding an old thread on a topic but I know it's there somewhere. Usually someone can find it and repost if necessary.

  6. I agree with @Bruce_Butterfield also. I see a lot of parents pushing kids to do one thing and I see a lot of kids unhappy about it. I also agree that having other kids involved makes it way more fun. My kid loves skiing and the whole thing was his idea! I don't push it at all, and never have. We are not from a ski family and I discovered this sport when I was 40. I grew up in a cold climate and did not discover the sport until late in life. My son saw me skiing at 5 years old and said "I want to do that". We haven't stopped since. He's almost 17 now and we ski at least 3 x's week. It's a LOT of time and sacrifice for sure but he is fully committed so I do call I can to support him. Many times it's just him and I, but we have taught several other kids how to ski, and that certainly keeps everything more fun and helps to grow the sport. I think kids just need to be encouraged to try a little bit of everything and then be free to decide what makes them happy.

  7. I am the mom of a 16 year old junior who wants to go pro so I'd love to join in any sub group so that we could help support each other. He wants to start doing some of the bigger tournaments abroad and our family can not afford to go. The only way I could probably make it happen was if I could partner with other families and maybe take turns taking the kids various places? I'd love to host some kids here in Texas at anytime and have them ski with us for a week or so at a time, and I'd love for my son to have the same types of opportunities in other places.
