    Is wake boarding participation declining?

    I still wakeboard but I am too old to push it hard. I can push my slalom ski really hard, and can take a barefoot fall, but no way at 50 I am going to really push my limits to try and advance on a wakeboard anymore.

     

    Only trips the ER with the kids were also wakeboarding.

     

    Catching air on a wakeboard sure is fun, but it has got to be the most dangerous of all our flavors of watersports.

    We have had years of quantitative easing and monetary policy that has kept the rates of financing charged to banks at historic lows, with our government pushing banks to lend, but not on mortgages. Easy money and terms help prices grow. Now the FED is talking about reducing rates again.

     

    I work in higher ed -- Same thing -- every-time the government raises loan limits and drops interest rates, we all respond by increasing our tuition costs.

     

    Money lent for cars, truck, RVs, boats is a bubble similar to the housing bubble, but it should not crash the economy if it pops like housing did.

    Collegiate fishing is kicking our butts. Non- collegiate fishing tournaments are kicking our butts too. And you can get our the door from Bass Pro Shop with a brand new boat and trailer that you can enter a tournament with for less then $20K. No lake restrictions. You can tow it behind your crappy mini-SUV. You can also spend more than a new Prostar for a new boat too. Believe me, it brings me no pleasure to admit that more people want to compete fishing than skiing. But that is what I see around me.

    Actually .... this is a swivel ski I found locally and added x-9 bindings to accommodate a lot of feet sizes. My goal it get every person staying at the lake with us over Labor Day a slalom run. With this ski beginners have no excuse for not trying.

     

    I have have nicknamed her Big Sa'rah. This fat bottom girl is going to get some new people skiing!

    Maybe this poll is a Rorschach test of your age. To me,

     

    1983-1985 MC Stars and Stripes - love the square windshield line

    1986-1988 Malibu Skier with the multi-colored stripes (mine was base grey with 7 different colors in the stripes, with base stripe a garnet) -- The euro versions began their ugly phase that persistent -- kink of like the Mustang II phase no one wants to remember

    1982-1984 SN 2001 with the tri-color stripe

    1985-1986 SN 2001

    Early 80s American Skiers

     

    Pretty easy to figure out when I was a teen with boat stars in my eyes.
