  1. Don't know where else to put this but I have a Ski-Doc that is just collecting dust. I might as well sell it and let someone get some use out of it. It's hardly been used... maybe a month or two at most. DM me if interested!

Buy a cheaper boat on your own.  Too messy.

Not for our setup. It works great. 30k for the cheapest zero off boat by yourself or 6500 split 8 ways to get a much better boat. Plus, the club tried the whole "bring your own boat thing" Turns out having more than one boat on a small ski lake doesn't work out that well.

But I'll take your suggestion to heart. 😉

Wow. Crazy.   Couldn't y'all just keep a notebook in the boat of hours started and ended?   I'm sure there's a level of honesty but if it's a small group like you have, hard to cheat.

The keys are essentially the same things as a notebook just a lot more convenient. The key box is wired to the emergency lanyard circuit so the boat won't start unless there is a key turned on. Otherwise the boat operates as normal. Very simple and easy way to keep track of hours. i've had a shared boat setup many different ways over the years and this by far is the easiest to manage. Having a notebook and making sure you write down you hours is cumbersome and easily missed.

What happens when the boat hits 88?

I'm not sure I follow your question.

  4. We have a group of 8 people on our club boat. We set up an LLC and have a written agreement with all the formal stuff but we are all considerate and treat each other with respect.

To make it fair we each have an hour meter that keep track of use per owner and then and the end of the year we collect the per hour rate. That hour rate pays for gas, maintenance, storage, etc. It's worked out very well for us so far.

Video of Will Asher running 39' at 34mph on the Syndicate OMNI.

I heard it was a 64" Syndicate OMNI. @owennibley What size is the CX Superlite do you have?

Yes, Will Asher can run shortline in almost any configuration of ski.

67" is the size of my CX SL. I'm willing to part with the ski for a very reasonable price. Bindings included.

Tail doesn't skip out on Will, so it's not the ski.😂

Certain ski designs are more "in tune" with different style of skiers. I'm not an expert skier by any means but after breaking my front ankle 2 years ago and now my rear foot on the same ski doing the EXACT same type of crash, and not having any other problems on my onside turn on any other ski (I've tried many. Senate, Vapor, C75, Omega, Alpha, XTR, Works 01, Omega Max) I think my conclusion is that this ski is the problem.

Comparing against one of the top ranked skier in the world for the past 20 years doesn't really say a whole lot. Will Asher is extremely talented and could ski on pretty much any ski and run shortline passes.

Be happy to send the ski to you so you can test your theory..... 😂

  7. Its been a month or so and the result of that CX Superlite crash was 2 broken bones and a heavily sprain big toe. I was in a boot for 4ish weeks and I was lucky to not have significant damage to the critical lisfranc ligament. I lost 6 weeks+ in the prime of summer and many other activities with the family were impacted.

Moral of the Story: Exactly what @adamhcaldwell said, if you can't trust your ski on you onside turn, throw it on the fire and forget about it.

I got back skiing this week using a rear boot to brace my back foot as flexion of the toes still hurts A LOT, and it was good. Started out trying the Works 01 and I can see how this ski can be amazing. Tons of grip and turns very well. However, I then tried my Omega MAX and yep, sticking with that. Actually ran 32' off yesterday, tied my PB after 6 weeks of not skiing. Funny how an extended rest can help your skiing.

What speed/line length? I have been on the CX since 2017; such a fun easy ski. I am just getting back to 32mph/15off after hip replacement in Jan.  I have been moving fin forward & shallower to get  quicker turn - oppisite of what you are looking for?

Today I was skiing at 34mph at 28-32 off. I love how fast the ski is across course but I do want a little more grip. I might be trying the Works 01 to compare.

    @owennibley video would help… Asher’s video is great but doesn’t help much…

Unfortunately, I don't have video of the crash of me skiing on this ski.

@owennibley If I recall correctly that is a shallow tunnel ski. It is easy to ride and not a lot of work. With that comes less grip. Settings may not get you there on that ski if you are going to crank hard turns. Not sure.

Yes, it is a shallow tunnel ski and extremely easy to ride. Super fast from wake to wake but I think you are right. Might not be feasible to get the ski to where I want it.

I still want to play with the settings, if you guys were to change a fin setting, which direction would you go?

What is the spread between your heels?

I've never measured that before. I use a RTP so I just put it as close as I can to the front boot without my toes hitting the front boot. What would that spread change?

    Those fin settings seem logical.

Tail blowing at on-side? Did the tip grab hard and then the tail popped?

Honestly I can't remember. That is a possibility. But it didn't feel like the tip grabbed. It felt like I initiated the turn and I just lost grip on the ski. I know I was coming in hot and tried to crank 2 ball hard and next thing I know I'm in the water and my foot got cranked out of the boot pretty hard. What are you thoughts?

  11. Had to use my backup ski (CX Superlite) because my binding broke and holy smokes..... I don't know why I ever stopped skiing on that thing. And then I remembered why.... the tail blew out and I broke my ankle on my front foot a few years ago. I did the exact same crash on it today and luckily my foot came out of the binding this time.

Despite the ski's best effort to kill be again, I'm so impressed with the ski that I want to see if I can adjust the fin to reduce the tail blowing out on my on-side.

What do you guys recommend? Increase depth by .005" change DFT? fin length? Right now they are stock:

    29.50" 6.860” 2.510” 0.775” 7 DEGREES

Any help from you guys would be very much appreciated.

BTW: HO CX Superlite is the most underrated ski of all time IMO. 😄

  12. To answer my own original question, I found out from another local skier who uses a similar setup, to splice the key/hour meter box into the tether switch wiring. Basically, a key from the box has to be turned on for the tether switch to work. This, I believe, is the easiest and the most simple to remedy my issues. If any one is interested, I can post pictures of the setup once complete.

  13. @Rednucleus at the start of the season we evenly put in money to fill up a 500 gallon gas drum and we will fill up as needed. At the end of the year or as needed, we will tally the hours of each member and each member will pay based on usage. I believe our rate is at $35/hour right now. That takes care of storage, Maintenance, fuel, everything.

This systems works good because then the persons who use the boat the most, also pays the most. It's not about trust as someone implies. It's about paying for your own usage.

My previous setup was very loose and not a lot of "rules". Noone took care of the boat. Noone did any maintenance and it showed. Even though I "trusted" everyone in the group, I was stuck doing all of the maintenance, winterization and setup. It was absolutely not fair for me.

Charging by the hour keeps everyone responsible and fair.

  14. We are using a shared boat between 8 owners and are going to charge by hour usage. On our previous boat (2005 196) we had individual keys tied to an assigned hour meter that kept track of each members hours.

I'm just wondering if someone has a better setup that's easier or cleaner than that. Maybe something electronic with RFID tags? Our boat is a 2015 Carbon Pro.

I'd rather not tear into the wiring and try to figure out where to splice the meter in if I can help it.

There's gotta be something out there that shared boat owners are using. TIA

  15. At the risk of being out of my comfort zone as just a lurker, I would like to add the HO CX Superlite. I feel that it was an incredibly underrated ski and would recommend it to anyone. I skied on it for 4 seasons and I still have it as my back up ski. It was absolutely fantastic/forgiving and even better if had your weight distributed right. Taught me how to get my weight balanced on my pre-turn.

I believe there is a video of Will Asher running 41' (@34mph) on it on youtube.

  16. This was the first full year using a rtp. It took almost half the season to get really comfortable getting up with one foot out but now it's so much easier on my back I'm glad I switched. I can drop each pass now instead of every 2 or 3.

It was very foreign and different but around 30ish sets in it was the new normal.

It does put more stress on the front leg hamstring but a good warm up and dynamic stretch will help considerably as well as a good driver.

Some people just can't make the rtp work.... but I'm glad I stuck it out. My back thanks me.

  17. I agree with scoke in that it could be a hinderance.

In my experience, your ski should match your ski level. You'll improve significantly faster with a ski that matches your level vs a ski that exceeds your skill. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule so it is skier dependent.

If you're breaking into 36mph, then a probably a ski designed to go 36mph would be wise.

And I will echo the last sentence from scoke....
