Holy crap - I think it would be easier for me to list what I am NOT working on. Let's see, my right foot goes in the front binding. That seems to be the only thing I am not thinking about when I ski. This time of year, I can't seem to concentrate on only one or two things. I pull out for the gates and I either: A) Draw a complete blank and come down with instant skiing amnesia (most typical at a tournament)- OR - B) I go into thought overload and my brain is flooded with all kinds of stuff....did I pull out far enough to get a good start, k now...be aggressive through the gates so I can set the tone for the rest of the course, back arm pressure (I tend to pull with front arm when I scramble), keep my elbows in as long as I can, oh crap-reach up, don't grab to soon, let the ski finish..........and it goes that way for 6 turns.
Even though I get mental, I still love it and have been addicted for 9 years!

Thanks Scoke, my day is complete. /vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif

First off - ditto to what my hubbs said. We LOVE going to tournaments. The atmosphere and social aspect is great. I enjoy the "tournament challenge".....which for me is staying calm and not getting "skiing amnesia" when I pull out for the gates. But, everyone has their own reasons. Either you like to do them or you don't. To each his own and I respect people just for trying and enjoying it at their own pace.
Secondly - thankfully I did not crap my pants because my lurking husband actually posted something. That is not an attractive thing./vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif

See - that's what I miss! I don't think I'll be posting any bikini pics here......you will just have to come to Washington to see the sights in person. /vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif Or you could also just send girlfriend-scoke, shes fun to hang with!

Scoke - I know my peeps are giving you some Washington representation for your tournament in September (I wish ML and I could come.....this Spring we will be there for a visit if we have to hitch hike our way out!!!!). I hear a rumor that you will not be attending our tournament at the end of August? I am so sad because I was really looking forward to visiting with you and girlfriend-scoke!
Also, I had Subway all lined up for some sponsorships and you would have been provided with sandwiches all weekend long!!!! Now that you won't be here, they cancelled. /vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cry.gif

Thanks guys. All good stuff and hopefully my husband reads it all....I know he'll be lurking in here at some point. /vanillaforum/js/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif Last year I was pretty resistant to trying skis (I struggle with change) but this year I decided to try some new stuff. However, due to the current state of the economy (which has affected my hubby's job) I have decided to stay on my decrepit old ski and just make it work until the checking account improves. I did try out an A1 and really liked it....a lot. All in all, I really do just feel greatful that I have the ability to ski and I am able to do it on a private lake. That's really my little slice of heaven.
Scot - I didn't think about the "freebie" aspect. Thanks for the reminder!

skidawg - his Elite is a 2009. He does like it and it's worked well. I think it just knows he cheated on it so it's going to punish him a few sets.
thanimal - I think I'll pass on your special oil.

My husband decided to price out two Goode’s, the mid-ride and a 9900….. I was just wondering if anyone knows of some kind of “Power-Financing†being offered by Goode?
The hubs has been skiing on a 68 Elite…..I’m pretty sure it’s a 68?....anyways for over a year now. It took some time to get it all set up so it worked well for him but he’s been happy and has been skiing pretty well.
Â
Then he had this great idea to “rule-out†the use of our buddies 9900….yes, he was trying to decide if he wanted to bleed black & orange. He spewed some kind of sales pitch like “I really like my ski but the guys that are on Goode’s seem to be skiing well so I think I should try it and rule it outâ€. Yah, right.
Â
He tried it a few sets and skied well but no better than on his Elite. He decided to go back to the elite cuz “why spend the money if I’m skiing the sameâ€. The next set on the Elite did not go well. He said he realizes he has to work so much harder. It took him 4 or 5 sets before it started to resemble “normal†again.
Â
I was just wondering-does anyone else torture themselves with their equipment this way? The “I just want to rule this out†can add up rather quickly…..and by the way, I am in love with skiing. I know its spendy and I don’t mind spending it if I got it and I want the hubs to have what works best. I fully support that! But how come I’m okay sticking with something that is maybe so-so. Do I have to be a special kind of “mental†to go through equipment like that?

Here's another cool way to fill your boat with gas without spilling all over. A little spendier than a 5 gallon tank but it comes in really handy and you won't have to buy another one. The "Todd Gas Kart Portable Fuel Tank":
http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/woeimages/Engine/TOD-51651.jpg
- 15 gallon capacity
- 6' long hose approved for fuel use
- Brass shut-off valve
- Rolls easily on polypropylene wheels which are impervious to fuel and temperature variations
- Molded-in handle

Mrs MS-
I have a friend who used the same racks you put on your car for snow ski's. He just screwed them to the top of his golf cart. I don't have a picture of his cart but I'm going to attempt to attach a pic of the type of rack on this post (I hope I'm not one of those people who can't attach the pic - here we go...)
http://www.prolineracks.com/thule-91726-pull-top-ski-rack-240.gif
If there's no pic here, try looking at this link: http://www.prolineracks.com/thule-91726-pull-top-6-pair-ski-racks.html
I'm sure you can find some of these on craigs list-or a garage sale or something. They work great and they don't look silly on your cart.
Good luck!

Hello Jean B! I agree, it's easy and it's fun. The whole reason I learned how to launch the boat was because I hadn't yet learned how to get up on one ski and I thought if I sucked at that, at least I could be useful. I can't imagine not skiing and not being a part of it all. I told my husband that if the day ever came that I wasn't physically able to ski, I would go get rated to be a driver because I still want to be a part of the tournaments and I don't want to miss out on all the fun.
-
So I don't want to toot my horn....okay I kinda do. My husband introduced me to skiing when we met 9 years ago (his best pickup line was "Hey-I gotta boat" and I was in love!). Anyways, I think I am more into it now than he is. We both ski in tournaments and it is so much fun! We started skiing this year in early February (water was mid 40's to low 50's....brrrrr) and we usually make it through October - sometimes November. I love skiing!!! I would NEVER ask him to stop doing something he enjoys. Yes, I also drive the boat for anyone who wants to ski (learned on a 90 MC without PP). In the last couple years, I have pulled a couple guys into 38 and I think I was as excited as the skiers! I can also trailer the boat and back into the lake....and no, it doesn't take me 20 minutes. I get it right the first time.
Lots of the wives at our lake ski and some of them don't. But none of them gripe at their man for wanting to ski. Life is too short and your problems just aren't that heavy. Enjoy it while you can. :)
