    We have a lake that is very clear early in the season, but gets a bit murkier as the Summer progresses with algae, etc. It seems to ski noticeably slower as it clouds up. I'm not sure how much of this has to do with the water temps, but my perception has always been that the cleaner, lower sediment water skis faster.

    A few years back, we had a contest to see who could run all six on an old Cypress Gardens wooden ski with no fin and no bindings.  One of us (not me) was able to complete a pass at around 17mph.  No one tried shorter than 15 off.  I think having bindings may have helped...
