  1. I will be relocating from Denver to Houston in the next few months. We are currently renting an apartment in the galleria area, but that could change when I move down. Where can i ski in Houston? We own a 2005 malibu, in Denver we lease a lake and keep the boat there during the summer. Is there any lake to lease or pay per set places? Purchasing another house is not an option right now.
  2. Now that i've actually read all of this.

Hammerski - my fracture was in powershells. The velcro was partially separated, but since i don't tighten the rear boot nearly as much as the front my rear foot pulled most of the way out of the boot and the front was fully in. I don't believe the powershells will release nearly as easy in the situation. I have had the plate come entirely off before but this was more of a tip hits the water and compresses the front ankle, then twisting over the ski with some pull on the front heel only. The front heel came partially up as well and was wedged in the binding.

A few years back a broke the tip of the tibia off as well, but i never got xrays and left the fragment in the ankle joint for a 3 years - no idea what other damage was done. When the fragment was finally removed the recovery time was very short and felt way better.

  3. I've had 3 surgeries on this ankle(only one from skiing) and then multiple sprains so I'm not sure what it is supposed to look like anymore. Thankfully i didn't walk on it too long before getting xrays - apparently if it would have slid any further i would have had to get hardware installed. Been considering any way to not have this happen again, but ultimately staying in the comfort zone is probably the only solution.
  4. Richard - i did the exact same thing last year at 2 ball - lff. Eventually I got an mri and had a partially torn something. Took many months until it was 100%. This year i made a similar move and the tail blew out and the tip hit first with even worse results. Your bruising is more impressive than mine although I think this is about an hour and half after i fractured it.

I thought mine was just a bad sprain until the x-rays showed a spiral fracture.

  5. I am going to a reflex as well - been waiting for a few weeks. I have occasionally skied with a toe plate and it felt odd for the first few sets, but I think i could get used to it easily. Going the other way seems harder.
  6. Get up carefully/don't open my eyes until i'm sure i won't get water into them. At first it seemed 1/10 passes would be one eyed(usually ski better), but i can't remember the last time it happened. I also find that the slower the driver pulls me up the less wet i get.
  7. Will this work? I have an older set of powershells that are still in decent shape that I would like to use on my 2010 Strada. Will the tape stick? The surface of the ski is a little different that anything that I have used those bindings on before.
  8. Is there a link or picture that can show me how to measure dft properly? I have 8" digital calipers and i have looked at the d3 site. I don't understand what part of the tail i'm supposed to measure from. The top of the ski, the bottom, or somewhere in between? Needle or flat?

I have a 67 Strada and I feel like my offside turn is an all or nothing thing. I would like to tame the turns a bit on both sides.

    190 lbs 34mph - sometime 28off - have not touched 32 this year.
