I once watched a guy make a ski from balsa wood, fiberglass from a hardware store and some bootleg graphite from Kidder while waiting on ski rides. The 66"ACME produced a tournament best score of 2 @ 35 36 mph by Marc Shaw on the bayou at U of L.

 

I never skied on it but did R and D the first and only ACME fin bracket. I will never be the test pilot dummy for Horton again. The fin block would let the fin go at the wakes and send you flying without warning. This caused you to get bucked 40' and Horton to double over laughing for 10 minutes.

Great Job Jason!!! It was tough out on the water. He was a stud to get what he did. I finished 4th. Jason and I agreed that those who don't have great sites to practice at really had an advantage. It is to bad the water came up like it did.

 

Waters Edge usually is a great site and August is usually bone dry in this area of the country and we have had alot of rain. I am usually looking at dead grass at my house and I have to mow it for the second time in 7 days.

 

I hope it is down today for the Jr Rippers.

Horton, How much for the XS gloves? I will bring you some cold Dirty Helen in Willimgton. I need 2 sets for 2 Dawson jr. rippers.

 

The one that comes to mind is Rainbow skis. 50% owner was Tom Murphy. The second was Acme. I only saw one ski come off the production line (aka ULM ski dock) from the ball of hair and it ripped!

Dawg is now my fin guru. Thru only text messages and telepathic concentration he has fine tuned my elite to go around lots of bouys. OR, maybe he just gave me the same numbers he is running.

I also think that 38 is the first pass that you have to travel up in front of the boat, get your ski out hard so it comes back and have it in the right place when you come back to the boat. At 38' Its hard to get around the bouy and stomp on your back foot at 38' when at 35' you can get away with it. I know because I can back foot turn all day long at 35 but can only consistently get to 2 at 38 with the same action.

It actually is the Indiana "red" super crunchy, popcorn. Ward tried it and ran 39' easy the next day with me driving after a couple "dirty helens" and struggling to keep straight. It also could be that he is awesome and has been training really hard since he was 8. 23 39's in a row takes a man. Great job Nate!
