  1. Granted Stein is exaggerating for the picture, but for those of us that raced in the 60,S and before, we used reverse shoulder ( counter rotation) to get close to the gates. They didn't move . Little did we know that we were also unlocking our upper body from our lower, so we were angulating. I also used this style on the water and it seemed to work. Been doing it for 50 years. Did it today. Feels good.
  2. I've been a strong proponent of mid-loops for long time. It's a physical and psychological aid to take baby steps. I was driving for a friend yesterday who was struggling at -32. I said " I'm putting you back on -30 ". He ran the pass and went home feeling good about his skiing.
  3. Well, I tried 32mph again and skied -28, -30, and 5@-32. You definitely have to pull a bit longer and hold tension on the line after the edge change. Leon, I haven't even attempted -35 for quite some time. I haven't skied tournaments for a couple years, so have just been out there to have fun and not worry about buoy count. Maybe it's time to shorten the rope.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll probably keep plugging away with the Senate for now.

  4. I start at -25, then - 28 if I can ski back to back 25's, then -30, then -32 on occasion. While not skiing really short line, I do enjoy the speed at 34. Guess I'll just have to get used to going slower. Horton, would the Conquer or the HO Superlite be an alternative?
  5. I will soon be graduating to M7 and a tournament speed of 32. I tried the new speed yesterday for the first time and man does it feel slow. Generating enough speed to reach the balls and have a good turn is problematic. I'm currently riding a Radar Senate C, 67" and weigh about 175. This ski has performed well at 34. But is there a ski that would be better suited for the slower speed?
  6. Thanks for the comments. I'm thinking that C2 changed my pullout and gate rhythm and left me with slack at 1. It's nice to have choices, but you sure have to get it right, then ski it right to be beneficial. I have three sayings that describe my skiing; my skiing is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get, sometimes your the windshield sometimes your the bug, past performance may not be an indicator of future returns. So, skiing consistently is highly advised.
  7. Finally getting to ski regularly with Zero Off, but have not yet been able to find a setting that suits me. What I'm looking for is a quick response off the ball, but not an over-powering pull from buoy to buoy. Started with C2 this morning and found myself falling in before the rope tightened. B3 seemed somewhat better, or was it just my skiing. What do you all ski at, any suggestions? Boat is a 2010 SN. BTW I noticed that this boat does some serious rpm to go 34.2. Is that typical?
  8. Problem fixed. Wires that go to back of tach. were loose. Probably from the dirt road we trailer the boat down to get to the pond. By the way, it's a private pond in the middle of the woods. It's approx. 2000 ft. long, about 150 ft. wide with marshy edges. Hence, no wind or backwash, no boats either. It's like I died and went to slalom heaven.
