  1. I'm glad @Horton posted this. I thought I was going crazy this weekend. The 5.3 just feels different. Far different (IMO) than any of the other ZO/engine combinations, including the new 6.2 single puck. At the gate it feels like ZO isn't even turned on. I almost fell over on my gate pull out because I wasn't getting anything from the boat. After a couple practice rides and three tournament rounds this weekend I was able to figure it out (tied my 2nd best tournament score). But wow, it's different.
  2. My dad took a fall in the yellow KD bindings back in 2004. His front foot came half way out of the binding resulting in a Lisfranc. He had three screws put in and was non-weight bearing for almost 6 months. It's not a quick recovery but he runs ~20 miles a week and has no problems skiing today.

Good luck! Feel free to message me. Will be happy to pass on any questions you have.

  3. Wim Decree designed a binding that released, in theory, from every direction. He used a Voile ball and socket release for the front of the binding. (http://www.backcountry.com/voile-release-kit-w-brake) And used a spring loaded release in the back. I skied on his binding for a few seasons and it worked great. Some higher quality parts for the rear release would make for the safest binding on the market, in my opinion.

I thought about putting a Voile release on the front a Reflex plate. Would be a fun project.

  4. We've been skiing behind a 2012 Carbon Pro for about a week now. It's a fantastic 3event boat and a perfect ski school boat- small wakes and the rubberized floor is pretty cool. Be looking for a yellow Centurion in a little video coming soon.
  5. Responding to your point on real business, is that not part of the problem? How many people that run USA Waterski actually come from some kind of watersports background? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there are many. I realize that not many competitive skiers aspire to run USAWS one day, but I feel like that is what we need; someone that understands what works in the real world and what will not.

I completely agree with you on the magazine... I remember reading in another thread how much the magazine cost to publish and couldn't believe how much money is going down the drain.

  6. Apparently Alabama football coach Nick Saban enjoys strapping one on occasionally:

“I try to enjoy life,” Saban said. “I still waterski. I ride them jet skis as fast as they’ll go, and every two years, I get the fastest ones they make to replace the last ones. Every year, Miss Terry [saban’s wife, Terry Saban] has a fit, but that’s just the way it goes.”

  7. What about some kind of float with an arm that extends upward with the camera mounted on it, then have this float tightly anchored to the bottom of the lake? Not sure how you would prevent this from rotating. Multiple anchors in different directions?
