Wood Underground Slalom Society (W.U.S.S.)

I was kind of kidding when I started the Ski Test and I was goofing when I started CarbonFins. If you guys will jump on board the Wood Underground Slalom Society (W.U.S.S.) will happen in the same way.

I think the rules will be something like as follows:

Any wood ski is legal

Any bindings are legal

No more then a few ounces of plastic parts will be allowed as binding parts.

Fins must be original equipment or arguably similar 

All boats will be driven manually

Top speed for all skiers in 30 mph

Where not specified by WUSS, USA Water Ski rules will be adapted

The honor system will be often required. Cheaters suck and will be ridiculed

Bonus Points.

6 balls will be awarded to any skier will pre-1980 bindings.

6 balls will be awarded to any female skier wearing only a bikini and gloves.  

  Members will generally meet in the evening following a USA Water Ski or INT event. The local event organizer will set running order and assign judges. One or  two rounds will can be held per day. All scores will be emailed to WUSS Intergalactic Headquarters.

Ran myf irst pass this evening (after my real ski set) 30mph 15off.  Managed to sqeak around 2ball.  ski just wants to sink, maybe run at shorter rope to increase speed acrros the wake.  Ski leg almost cut me out on my 2-4-6 sid everytime.  Holy crap, major props to the old schoolers.  This crap is hard.  Tomorrow I think I am skiing with Marcus Brown and Terry Winter,  hoping they will try a quick pass after our sets.

Pumped to make this something real, friends I have talked to are into it.

Not wanting to complicate things - but....

 In the upper midwest, we have mostly show ski planks around.  They are mostly 8.5 or 9.5" wide, flat, square tail, two thick "fins," and are designed to track perfectly straight.  It may be a different class with a lower speed with all of that surface area.  I'll try it out this weekend and see how it works.  Of course, the skis I have access to don't have a rear binding.  That may make it even more interesting....
