Baller Andre Posted April 7, 2010 Baller Share Posted April 7, 2010 For old school guys like me who are using a rtp, which one you give you the best control over your ski?I need a new one and has been looking at the Radar rtp.Anyone using one?Been on an adjustable Kidder for years.I always modify mines so that the rubber sits more on my ankle then my toes.Am i the last one that can't adapt to double boots? Old MS Accout
I have a rear toe plate from HO for sale. Brand new. Small.
aguylikeshark
Do you like the open toe for starts?? With the Eboots you can dial in want you want for example: open toe, open heel, or even open cuff. Just sent one out to Karen Truelove-Krueger. Jon setup a similar boot for Natallia's slalom. I use open heel open toe too. This gives a lot of rear foot movement but at the same time you feel control on the ski.
Baller MattP Posted April 8, 2010 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2010 Andre - I am using the Radar RTP right now and its really well built. I take the padding out of my RTP's and replace it with grip tape so that it is easier to get my foot up in farther and the tape holds it in better in my opinion. If you already have a plate you can buy just the overlay ($22) or add a Pebble Deck Non Skid ($6) from Performance Ski & Surf for a fraction of what the Radar set up costs($55 ) ( I found this out the day after I bought mine). The Radar and Wiley's($40) look like the same design but the Radar had a thicker pad in it than I expected from the way it looked in its photo. The Wileys looks like it has a thinner one to me. http://www.perfski.com/cart.cfm?cart_action=item_info&item_guid=7b38ac88-bfb9-410a-b00c-a9c13f0575b8&category_guid=02c7b9e7-65bf-d230-4515-28fe16659d34
Baller disland Posted April 9, 2010 Baller Share Posted April 9, 2010 I like the HO footbed on their RTP. It is comfortable and your foot never moves

Baller MattP Posted April 9, 2010 Baller Share Posted April 9, 2010 I use a Reflex with a Radar RTP and I really like the set up. Reflex also make a hardshell type RTP. This one is sold in their store http://lh5.ggpht.com/_Wbf2PN_5-mA/S7-1UlRjXtI/AAAAAAAAAXU/fdn1G-PfbIM/s144/2010carrearRstyle%2Bchau.jpg This one is shown in their hardshell news section and I think will be added to the store but if not im sure they will sell you one http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Wbf2PN_5-mA/S7-0Exq_umI/AAAAAAAAAXM/Y0ZuVy7tJMo/s144/jbfaisyrstyle2.jpg http://www.reflexworld.com
aguylikeshark
We have about 3 or 4 D3 style plates in stock, one HO rear I think. $29 Not much left there. I also have a XL, L and M Wiley F & R boots for summer rec skiers that want just want something to free ski on. http://www.jagersport.com/product_info.php?cPath=88&products_id=258 Hyperflex V - Open toe, open heel and you can run cuff-less if you want too, or fix the cuff in place and just use a lace-up (no buckle) This works really well. So that is 5 options for the rear, three conversions, same boot. http://www.jagersport.com/popup_image.php?pID=256&image=5 using a tall liner in a cut down boot doesn't make much sense. Baller MattP Posted April 9, 2010 Baller Share Posted April 9, 2010 I agree "using a tall liner in a cut down boot doesn't make much sense." If it was me I would cut it down to size.
Baller mike55 Posted April 9, 2010 Baller Share Posted April 9, 2010 yep...I just purchased a Radar fixed RTP in size large. I modified it by moving the toe strap or stirrup one set of holes forward. The reason being a size 9 to 9 1/2 wider front paw with higher instep. This allows my toes to be close enough without climbing up on the Strada front boot. Also allows the higher instep to be gloved in more securely without spittin back.  So the Radar footpad is fine being very much like one on a D3 rtp. The H.O. older footpad from about 5 seasons ago was nice. The best toe plate footpad imho I have floating around the garage is a Connelly. If you've seen those aluminum colored looking plates thats it. You have to go even bigger with their stirrup's as they are mounted more narrowly on their plates. Makes it interesting and limits your choices when those rear hole patterns on skis are not stadardized. If you want Andre' I'll shoot a picture of my new Strada ski with the Boot and RTP and post it for ya. Regards.
Baller Andre Posted April 10, 2010 Author Baller Share Posted April 10, 2010 Thanks Mike! I move my rubber one hole back on my rtp.You like it more on your toes?Shoot me a pix andrelamarre@msn.com Matt Reflex site didn't work for me.Does the rtp that you posted uses a liner? Baller MattP Posted April 10, 2010 Baller Share Posted April 10, 2010 http://www.reflexworld.com yes they do use a liner. If I was going to get one personally I would want to try the one in the second picture because it is more like a normal RTP and cut the liner all the way down to the edge of the binding plastic and glue(attach in sone way) it in to the binding and maby add some grip tape inside for personal preferance.
