Baller sunvalleylaw Posted July 16, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 16, 2012 @Horton Thanks for the review. As I return to trying to ski harder, the inside of my right elbow is starting to bug me. Sounds like a handle like this might help. Previously, I have always liked a relatively long, straight handle.
Administrators Horton Posted July 16, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted July 16, 2012 @sunvalleylaw Bent handles really seem to have helped me. Sadly I am on a keyboard 10+ hours a day so my elbows are already screwed. I do not think I could go back to straight handles. The adjustment takes a ride or two. Baller sunvalleylaw Posted July 16, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 16, 2012 I also am on a keyboard much of the day. I guess I didn't put two and two together. I get issues nordic skiing too, but on the other side (outside) of the elbow from poling. I need to get a new line and handle anyway. Might as well check this one out. I like that it is longer. JoeMac
What does "extend detachable" mean? Is that something new? The video didn't say anything about what extend detachable was.
Administrators Horton Posted July 16, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted July 16, 2012 @JoeMac Yea sorry I almost did not post this when I realized that I forgot to show that part. The end caps are connected to the bar with a allen screw. You can swap bars all day long. I like the bent bar so much that I forgot that you can swap out for a straight bar in about 90 seconds. Baller sunvalleylaw Posted July 16, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 16, 2012 @Horton - Whoa. Any worries about the allen screws backing out and the handle coming apart? I like the idea of the shape, but might want to get one that does not detach if I like it.
Baller Roger Posted July 16, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 16, 2012 Looks like it would fit over your head pretty easy...
Ryno
@Roger That's what Horton's hair has been designed for. Genetics has provided him in built handle guard protection.
Baller Drago Posted July 16, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 16, 2012 Now, that's cool! I thought you meant it could be lenthened in the water after being measured. MM or Ralfie signature model.
Baller Chef23 Posted July 16, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 16, 2012 It looks like the smallest diameter is 1.062 though. I like a smaller bar.
Administrators Horton Posted July 17, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted July 17, 2012 I do not worry about the end coming off. Well.... I do worry for the first pass on any new gear but this design works great. Baller sunvalleylaw Posted July 17, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 17, 2012 @Horton, just watched your review of the US Gear 13 bent handle. It looks good too. What about this Radar do you like better?
Administrators Horton Posted July 17, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted July 17, 2012 @sunvalleylaw Once on the water I do not know. The US Gear 12 feels great but is not as tacky. The Radar super tacky and is growing on me. You need to find one and see how it feels in your hand. Also my US Gear is a 1.00 and my Radar is a little bigger so I think it is a good idea go back and forth. Yea I am no help. Sorry ask me about skis and I can tell you more. Baller Chef23 Posted July 17, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 17, 2012 @Horton do you think there would be an issue with the bigger diameter handle and clinchers?
Administrators Horton Posted July 17, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted July 17, 2012 @Chef23 No. I do not see why Goode ★ HO Syndicate ★ KD Skis ★ MasterCraft ★ PerfSki Radar ★ Reflex ★ S Lines ★ Stokes ★ Baller Video Coaching System Drop a dime in the can
Baller_ Wish Posted July 18, 2012 Baller_ Share Posted July 18, 2012 Haveing used clincher or clincher type gloves for a decade ish, IMHO size matters with clinchers.....size of the handle.....ski handle. Anyway, it took several handle size tries to get it right. May just be a personal feel but there is a difference how the clinchers react.
jaredH20
what's going to happen when you fall inside the bouy and the handle recoils into the ski, most handles are rubberised on the ends and correct me if I'm wrong but that's solid plastic on the ends?
kfennell
My Radar strada handles are both ruber over the end of the handle, BUT it is very thin rubber and the first time it hit the ski it broke and damaged the ski, the day I tried to learn how to get up with a RTP was very very very very bad for the front top of my ski :(
Baller slalomboy96 Posted July 18, 2012 Baller Share Posted July 18, 2012 I dont like the idea of having metal on the outside of the handle, just imagine what it would do to your foot/ski if you popped the handle in the wrong place.
Administrators Horton Posted July 19, 2012 Author Administrators Share Posted July 19, 2012 Not metal. Is Composite/plastic. Never seen a handle get to a foot besides a tricker.
