Baller skibug Posted March 10, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 10, 2013 I am looking for some input on the setup of the TXI. Any promo guys or tournament drivers that can lend some input? In particular, any extra grinding on the rudder; and, any weight in the nose?
Baller Moskier3ev Posted March 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 11, 2013 What is it doing now? I usually just use the adj rudder until the water gets above 70-75 and see where the boat is. My 13 is still a little loose, but I think it will get pretty good as the water warms up. I dont run any weight in the nose we 3 evt. If it is going to a slalom event I have a 45 I put in the nose. I keep a 45 under the passenger seat all the time for balancing purposes. Right now it has a 45 under the passenger seat. The adj. rudded pushed out some and the boat is pretty good out of the box. 10 hrs. Jeff Lindsey
Baller skibug Posted March 11, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted March 11, 2013 @Moskier3ev, Don't have one yet, hopefully going to pick one up this weekend. Just wanting to know what people are doing with the TXI so I have a starting point other than stock.
Chad_Scott
I do a small amount of grinding on the rudder. I place the rudder tab out with approximately 1/8 inch of space. The TXI without a tower does not seem to need weight in the nose. With a tower and the taller bimini top you may want to add a little weight to the nose of the boat. However the TXI is a great driving boat and should not require much in the way of set up. I have gone to different lakes and driven other TXI's and have had the same experiences
Baller mlange Posted March 13, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 13, 2013 Mine pulled the Malibu Open the last two years so I'm assuming it was set up pretty well and while I can't get to the boat right now to confirm I did look at the rudder when I bought it to see how much it was tweaked and I didn't see any grinding, but the tab was out a fair amount. Chad_Scott
@mlange If yours pulled the Malibu Open the rudder has a small amount of grinding on it as well as the Rudder tab pulled out. Those boats were set up and drove really well. Lots of 39s run behind it
Baller skibug Posted March 15, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted March 15, 2013 @ChadScott, @mlange, thanks for the feedback. When you say a small amount of grinding on the rudder, I assume it is for the entire length along the trailing edge on the drivers side.
Baller mlange Posted March 15, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 15, 2013 Thanks, Chad. I'll have to take a closer look when I pull it out of storage if this snow will ever melt.
E_T
defiantly a little weight in the nose! It drives like a floating tank compared to a
Baller jayski Posted March 15, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 15, 2013 Find that extremely unlikely, have driven a half dozen different boats (200&TXI) and the TXI's all out handle the 200's, precision turns on the spot where the 200's push through the turn...island turns more concise and even slow speed maneuverability is better
Baller skier41 Posted March 16, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 16, 2013 Does anyone have ideas what to use for weights? Ski a lot w/o observer and need to balance boat. Something that easily can be moved around
Baller davemac Posted March 16, 2013 Baller Share Posted March 16, 2013 We use one of those heavy canvas bags (like a wife would bring to the beach). It has a 40 lb bag of sand in it. The handles on the bag make it easy to move around, or take out of the boat. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/37037?feat=canvas%20bag-SR0&page=boat-and-tote-bag-zip-top
Baller skibug Posted March 17, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted March 17, 2013 Steel shot in 2 gallon gas cans, about 50 lbs. You can also fit this into the very small canvas bags sold at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.
