Baller Waternut Posted May 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted May 11, 2013 When I bought mine over the winter, @Jdarwin said that Masterline could make everything but the Silveretta release but was working on that too. Shoot him a PM or email him. He has a website. http://www.lakesatcottonwood.com/cottonwood_shop.htm
buski
What's the difference to the standard reflex boot? Or is it just another rebranding?
Baller ForrestGump Posted May 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted May 12, 2013 JD told me that Masterline was not able to source the liners at this time.
Baller Waternut Posted May 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted May 12, 2013 I think there are some subtle differences between the boots but Masterline only has the classic boot and not the slalom only boot with the white cuff. Technically even the Reflex classic shell is a rebrand of an inline skate shell with a block rivetted to the back which is pretty much what Masterline did. The Silvretta release was originally designed for back country snow skiing. Then they mount it on a custom drilled aluminum or carbon plate that can be mated to our ski's. In all fairness, someone's resourcefulness and ingenuity took readily available parts and made one of the best bindings available.
Baller KcSwerver Posted May 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted May 12, 2013 Can the quantum binding be used on a reflex plate with silvretta 500 release?
Baller ForrestGump Posted May 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted May 12, 2013 Yes it can
Baller KcSwerver Posted May 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted May 12, 2013 Also comparing the two boots (reflex vs quantum) what does the flexion brake do for the reflex. Is it worth the extra 30$?
Baller jdarwin Posted May 13, 2013 Baller Share Posted May 13, 2013 Guys - we stocked the Quantum boot initially with the belief that Masterline would provide the entire package. They were unable to source the release and therefore, we had to build the system from two different vendors. This was not cost effective for us to continue. The liner that was initially offered is no longer available. Masterline does have liners - simply not the one that initially came with the system. That said, if you want a "Reflex" type system, go to the source.
