Baller GOODESkier Posted December 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2013 My buddy is looking at a 2005 Nautique 196 LE with the 6.0 Liter Closed Cooling System. He is a slalom guy, will never jump or barefoot.............. Is the 6 liter going to ski as well wake and pull wise as the smaller 5.7 engine? Would you even notice a difference? I have only skied the 2 sized engines in a 200, and I thought they felt identical other than the 6 liter feeling just a hair firmer in the ZO pulls. Granted this 2005 will have PP Stargazer w/ZBox. Baller ozski Posted December 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2013 I ski behind both and think that the 6.0 feels a touch firmer but I don't shudder at the sight of the 6.0. Its fine.
Baller_ The_MS Posted December 5, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 5, 2013 I always thought that the 6.0 felt a bit stiff on the 196 but on the 200 I have grown to like it better.
Baller GOODESkier Posted December 5, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted December 5, 2013 @MS , when you say stiff.... what exactly do you mean?
Baller ForrestGump Posted December 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2013 I'm with @MS. Stiff=harsh off the ball. Like it was on you too quickly or too hard. Prop change fixes that.
Baller_ The_MS Posted December 5, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 5, 2013 @GOODESkier Like @Shane said, off the ball it always felt like It was harder to get in to the stack due to the boat feeling strong in front of me.
Baller GregDavis Posted December 5, 2013 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2013 Get with Jody, He will know exactly what prop to put on, so the 6 L feels same as 5.

Baller_ The_MS Posted December 6, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted December 6, 2013 @GoodeSkier If all things are good on price and care, I would not hesitate to get a 196 with the 6L. I think you could prop it down and it will feel fine if not jumping.

Baller GOODESkier Posted December 6, 2013 Author Baller Share Posted December 6, 2013 @Jody_Seal wondering what prop you would run on this boat? If you were just skiing Slalom in the course with little to no barefooting and no jumping.
