Phil2360
What are people's thoughts on Perfect Pass settings for free skiing? Our course lake is shallowing up a fair bit so are adding trips to the publice lake to our week. Tried Wakeboard mode & it was Woeful, throttling after the 2nd wake, and GPS slalom mode seems not to use it's logic without gate buoy triggering. The pull just feels too different. Any suggestions on replicating the cours pull in open water? Running Stargazer & Zbox with 7.004R at present. Any upgrades on this software known? Cheers Phil
Baller RazorRoss3 Posted November 5, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 5, 2014 I've skied open water Z box and didn't have problem leaving everything constant. What I do notice when I ski open is a tendency to not shoot the same kind of gate pull, not stay outbound as well, and generally ski with less angle. My advice would be to put extra effort towards trying to visualize the course and ski the same way you would if you were in it and see if that helps. Baller dchristman Posted November 5, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 5, 2014 I don't know if it would make a difference for free skiing, but I thought firmware version 8.0x was a requirement for ZBOX... we got 8.05 with ours.
Baller GOODESkier Posted November 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2014 Free skiing? What is this concept you speak of? Do you do it for free? Baller coins involved? Call PP and get latest software upgrade. Although I have never actually skied it in open water.
Baller Drago Posted November 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2014 Or just switch to classic mode and let 'er rip . Your timer will run and beep at you, but just ignore it. Big spray!
Baller Stejcraftben Posted November 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2014 I just got pp star gazer in my boat. I only used it once in a course and in slalom mode but it worked great. I've mainly been free ski skiing but still run slalom mode when doing it. Works fine for me, didn't notice any difference from the course to open water but I'm not a very good skiier. I tried rpm mode but it seemed to hard to get exact speed I wanted.
Baller 19skier Posted November 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2014 I like skiing "calibration mode" when we freeski - usually have varying current speeds before reaching the course. Feels n sounds like it is trying to dependablely hold rpm. Using SG no magnet software.
Baller slow Posted November 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2014 I like free skiing better with startazer than classic. Very forgiving pull what gets me high on the boat. We do long river runs this time of year

Baller wtrskior Posted November 6, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2014 just bump the speed up a bit from your usual max when you freeski IMO.
I5boi
How about ZO in open water:? Same?
Baller GAJ0004 Posted November 8, 2014 Baller Share Posted November 8, 2014 I like to drive manually once in while. It is an art form in itself. When I free ski I go 36MPH.
