msuws
Has anyone skied the reflex stealth? Just wondering if there are any complaints on the ski. Also I should point out that I am a slalom skier and planning on getting more into trick. Is this ski any less forgiving than the D3 CX or the Quantum? Thanks in advance. Baller Chef23 Posted February 16, 2015 Baller Share Posted February 16, 2015 I haven't seen many of them around. Most of the trick skis I see are D3 or Quantum. @eleeski might have some more insight on them.
Baller eleeski Posted February 16, 2015 Baller Share Posted February 16, 2015 Sorry, I haven't skied one yet. The Reflex skis I've tried varied a lot between models so I can't even guess. Enjoy your foray into tricking. You'll have fun with new tricks and some skills will cross over to your slalom. All good! Eric
msuws
@eleeski Would you suggest not taking the risk on it and maybe going towards a d3 or quantum instead? I'm only considering it because I found a 2014 closeout for a good price.
Baller MattP Posted February 16, 2015 Baller Share Posted February 16, 2015 @msuws don't forget about the Radar Graviton! I'm sure you could find a 2014 closeout somewhere.
Baller eleeski Posted February 17, 2015 Baller Share Posted February 17, 2015 D3 is safe. Stan likes Quantum the best of the factory skis (and no ski lands better). I like Goode. I don't know Radar well enough yet. All good choices - including the Reflex. Reflex builds excellent products. I honestly can't offer advice because I haven't skied or skied with anyone on a modern Reflex trick. Buy it and give us a review and a progress report at the end of the season. msuws
@eleeski I will absolutely let everyone know how it skis if I end up buying it. Thanks for the help!
epyscs
Disclosure - I am a Reflex dealer, but here is my take. I have a bad habit of selling my personal Reflex skis so end up skiing on a few other skis. My 'quiver' of skis currently consists of (and note I have tried all these skis for both hands and toes): Hands: > Furtif 43" as my go-to ski at the moment > Quantum 43" my backup > Stealth 43" which I have a lot less sets on and is currently living with someone else. Toes: > 42" D3 Rubber edge - stolen from partner when she wasn't looking. > 42" Reflex Rubber Edge My take is as follows: For hands I love the Furtif. In my eyes it stands well above D3 and Quantum and everyone who rides it loves it. It gets awesome lift, has loads of grip (but this might be as I ordered it with the textured non-glossy base) and is really light. It just feels lively. The stealth gets about the same lift, but feels a little looser to me on the landings (glossy base). Comparing the Quantum and D3 I reckon they are good skis, possibly more forgiving, but feel sluggish and less enjoyable compared to the Reflex's. For toes, I am getting used to the Reflex rubber edge. Feels like a D3 but with more rocker so it feels like you can rock backwards/forwards a little more on surface turns. Wake tricks it is a little more aggressive into the wake. The furtif is quick rotating, but i would want grooves to get more grip at the front/back to stop rotation. Stealth I admit I havent done toes on yet. As a side note: Quantum left me without a ski for months when I snapped one - it was off-season apparently. D3 have fixed 2 of my skis including covering the intl shipping back and Reflex had a freshly made custom graphics slalom ski to me within a week after Fedex damaged one. By the way - have you seen the finish on the Black Glossy Carbon skis Reflex does... its like Carbon Porn...
msuws
@epyscs thanks for the info! From what it sounds like the stealth is a really nice ski. The only thing I would be nervous about is whether I would be able to progress quickly on the ski from more of a beginner level.
epyscs
@msuws I dont see why not! I have put a few beginners on both the Furtif and stealth with no issues.
Baller rab Posted February 28, 2015 Baller Share Posted February 28, 2015 @msuws talk to @beans (same beans that skied for GVSU). Last time I heard he had some Reflex trick skis at his shop that were a few years old. I bet he would let you demo them. ~EMU
Baller Beans Posted March 1, 2015 Baller Share Posted March 1, 2015 @msuws @rab is correct on that. I have a stealth and a duo that you can try out.
