Looking for a ski upgrade suggestions.

I have been trying to get my dad to get a more modern ski, but I'm not sure what to get. He skis on a EP stiletto. HE has also skied on a HO Truth, HO CDX-1, and a HO CX. He dose not like any of those skis. He has a bad back and skis at 15off 32mph. I was thinking something like the HO TX, Connelly V, or Radar Senate.

I was on the Connelly V for two seasons and skiing at your dad's level. I don't have experience with the other skis you mentioned but I can tell you that compared to the Connelly Prophecy that I switched to the V was incredibly stable and forgiving. It is also much easier getting up -- I drag significantly more getting up on the Prophecy compared to the V. I had friends ski on it who were just barely able to cross the wake consistently and they found the ski very stable, but the V also rips (see Horton's review). I highly recommend the V for someone at your dad's level.

I can tell you that TX and Superlite TX feel insane, very stable skis (especially considering your dad's back) and solid edge tracking on both sides. I used both of them for a couple of days and they are pretty sick sticks!

Hm. I fear that if he doesn't like the CX, he may just want to stick with his old reliable EP. Senate, V, Theory, TX/Triumph, P6 are all great skis that are wider than his EP and possibly the CX.

Does your dad have an Old-School stance like my dad (stand on the tail of the ski)? That may be why he did not like any of the newer skis.

 

When I got my first "modern" ski I didn't like it until I learned how to get more of the front of the ski in the water. Then the ski started to make MUCH better turns.
