Baller AndersonSkiTeam Posted February 10, 2016 Baller Share Posted February 10, 2016 My son is 10 and just starting to slalom and he is not aggressive. He is only 65lbs though. I am just wanting a very stable ski that he can eventually make some turns on. Is a 65" Theory way to big. I know weight wise it is a big ski but for a beginner will this work ok. I have an older 62" HO but it was more of a performance ski and was very twitchy for my other kids learning on it.
PaiMei
Look at ski-it-again, 62 D3 Fusion, won Boys 1 Nationals this year Son is 10 and is on d3 RCX, 62. Also about 65-70 lbs. very stable skis and when ur ready to rip they won't destroy u! Good luck!

Baller Chef23 Posted February 11, 2016 Baller Share Posted February 11, 2016 I think the 65" Theory would work fine if he is running 15,17 and 19 mph. As he moves in to the 20s something a little narrower would probably be better. My son ran the course on a 63" HO wide ride ski until 30 mph but he was heavier than your son. Once he was hitting 30 I moved him to a 65" conventional ski. He was probably 110 pounds or so then.
Baller eddie_roberts_jr Posted February 11, 2016 Baller Share Posted February 11, 2016 I would say that a 65" Theory is not way too big, for now. It's very stable and will build confidence.. When your little guy gets more aggressive and starts skiing faster you can go to a narrower ski and save the Theory for later.
