Boot placement

Need some advise on boot placement- just ordered a new Radar 2017 67" Senate Graphite. I have been skiing on a 2013 Senate, not what was the C, it is the softer one which I guess would be equivalent to the Alloy construction now. They only had two builds back then. And I ordered one of the 2016 Profile bindings for the front. I have several sizes of the Vector boots and have always felt they were a little soft on the support side. I use a rear toe plate but I am going to try their HRT half-boot in the back. My buddy had one on his Radar and did not like it. My question is boot placement. What is the best way to measure the placement of my current boot to setup my new ski with the same position? The Radar site recommends starting at 30.5". Looks like that is taken from the tip to some point on the front boot. For what it is worth I am skiing a slalom course in public water at 15 and 22 off at 31.4mph. Thought it was time to try a better ski and boot for comparison.

I have the same setup and I just checked everything out on mine last night. Middle hole on the radar boots is right at 30.5. From the back of the boot (Bottom stitches) to the back of the ski.

Thanks, just checked mine and it is 30.5" from rear of ski to back of boot. Funny thing is I am running the small Vector boot as far forward as it will go. I had it back 2 holes and skied with some guys much better than me a few weeks ago. They said I should try moving my front boot forward, but no change to the back. Upon doing that I think it made the ski turn better.

"Generally" the same brand boot and ski, the stock settings should be middle hole. Its easy for people to recommend moving a boot forward, but make sure you have good position and alignment 1st, don't move the boot forward to fix bad weight distribution. Start with stock settings and learn to stand right on the ski.

The only "always" in binding placement is "always measure." Don't trust that the center hole on your binding plate will mount it at the factory recommended location even on their own skis. It's not uncommon for a manufacturer to discover that their production ski works better with the bindings further forward or back than they first thought during testing. This can lead to "stock" or "factory recommended" settings that are NOT in the center hole.
