shansen345
I have two identical rope/handle combos. I marked a small part of the handle line on one of the two (to make it so I can tell them apart) with a Sharpie without really thinking about it... Can Sharpie eat away at mainline material? Or should I not worry about it and ski on? Thanks
Administrators Horton Posted September 6, 2017 Administrators Share Posted September 6, 2017 @shansen345 I think you are ok. I have seen a lot of tournament ropes marked this way. Baller_ lpskier Posted September 6, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted September 6, 2017 A small strip of bright duct tape wrapped around the rope works well and also helps identify your rope, handle, hanger, whatever else might get confused with someone else's gear. Baller Edbrazil Posted September 7, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 7, 2017 I used sharpie permanent markers a lot to mark ropes. Never saw any problem.
Baller ForrestGump Posted September 7, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 7, 2017 The sun and water will break down a rope a lot faster than a sharpie will. Mark away!
Baller mwetskier Posted September 8, 2017 Baller Share Posted September 8, 2017 sharpie ink is an alcohol based dye and your polypropylene ski rope is impervious to alcohol -unless you put the alcohol in *you* and then do something stupid with the rope. that aside, heres the msds for sharpie permanent ink: http://www.officedepot.com/pdf/msds/517441.pdf
