Baller mbabiash Posted October 24, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2019 Does anyone have experience with Goode’s version of the r style rear boot?
Administrators Horton Posted October 24, 2019 Administrators Share Posted October 24, 2019 I believe it is essentially the same as the Reflex version except the buckles which to me look superior. Baller skialex Posted October 24, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2019 Shell is a cuff less cut down Supershell, so it is not exactly the same as a reflex r-style. Plastic is softer on the supershell, my cousin skis on a cut down supershell for the past 10 years and says that he prefers it over the reflex shell. Baller skialex Posted October 24, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2019 @Stathis Ventouris just sent me these pictures of his ski with his home made Goode r-style
Baller Nando Posted October 24, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2019 @skialex, I was not aware that the Goode was softer than the Reflex- is it significantly softer?
Baller skialex Posted October 24, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2019 @Nando I not sure if it is significantly softer, plastic is softer and easier to cut, I know that. I think @Stathis Ventouris should answer this.
Baller A_B Posted October 24, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2019 Do you come out of the R Style in a fall?
Baller BraceMaker Posted October 24, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 24, 2019 You should. I've tried the r style the get and RTP and I've been more stuck in an RTP than any of the others. I think the Wiley's RTP foam is pretty sticky.
Baller CReckard Posted October 25, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 25, 2019 Yes you do come out in a fall. I have one for sale if you want it.

Baller mbabiash Posted October 25, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted October 25, 2019 Bummer. I need a right rear. Thanks
Baller Stathis Ventouris Posted October 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 @skialex It is not softness that I like about the "home made" GOODE R-Style but the heel upward movement possibility that the springs provide.
Baller Stathis Ventouris Posted October 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 @A_B never had a release problem, although I have not skied in an RTP for many years my feeling is that the release is as easy.
Baller mbabiash Posted October 31, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 So why on the r style did they move the top buckle down. Is it a release issue or a performance thing.
Baller Stathis Ventouris Posted October 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 @mbabiash I guess for safety and release reasons but I do not believe out of experience that it was necessary. In addition, I don't know whether by moving the top buckle down you give up on overall feeling and support.
Baller mmosley899 Posted October 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 My r style rear made from a Goode boot... Btw, probably better to move or remove the top buckle or replace it with a rubber strap made from binding rubber, to insure easy release. Baller mbabiash Posted October 31, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 Also. What is the purpose of the cutout on the toe area. To get closer to front boot?
Baller mmosley899 Posted October 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 @mbabiash yes, chances are your toes are 3/4” to 1” from the end of the plastic shell anyway... Baller aupatking Posted October 31, 2019 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2019 Matt, goodwill and a grinder. Rollerblade R-styles are cheap! ;) . But seriously @mbabiash the toe cutout is for the Reflex style release arms to have room
Baller Stathis Ventouris Posted November 1, 2019 Baller Share Posted November 1, 2019 Plastic buckles are preferable than aluminum ones for release purposes and also out of experience they open up with pressure on release situations.
