Members Zog
I'd rather repair if possible. $250 per side seems ridiculous.
Baller thager Posted April 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 7, 2020 Find an aluminum welder or try a little jb weld. Is the bimini attachment slipping out?
Baller epnault Posted April 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 7, 2020 Did this happen from your Bimini snafu? Sometimes I am delighted by MC engineering and other times I am WTF. The Bimini should fail and not the windshield too. Nobody tested or engineered it to. I have the tower on my boat and I can’t deploy or collapse the Bimini without collapsing the dam tower. So it stays deployed all season. Wow. I hope somebody got there butt kicked at work for that one. Unacceptable.
Baller Kelvin Posted April 7, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 7, 2020 Just put a piece of tape on your bimini pole so the metal ball doesn't slide all the way to the bottom of the windshield bracket. There is still alot of metal on those windshield brackets.
Baller_ RichardDoane Posted April 8, 2020 Baller_ Share Posted April 8, 2020 or cut a small piece of plastic and jam it down into the groove, you can always dig it out later if you need to
Baller aupatking Posted April 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2020 I did exactly what @RichardDoane said. It worked great on mine

Baller Jaypro Posted April 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2020 happened on my 17 prostar, MC warrantied it.
Baller oldjeep Posted April 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2020 If I were trying to fix that, I'd drill the pole and then drill and tap the bracket so you can fasten the pole to the bracket securely. Goofy looking design having that open slot where all the force is.
Baller skimtb Posted April 8, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 8, 2020 The concept is slick. Easy up and down. No straps clips etc. Design wise there could be improvements. Thicker windshield piece edges that will never fail. Thinner / replaceable part on the Bimini that almost has a “fuse” that would be easy and cheap to fix/replace. Also agree with @epnault that it is a fail to have to lower tower to put up bimini. Especially if you forget and let a few folks on the boat first.... although the easy solution would be a narrower Bimini, then we would complain it doesn’t make enough shade.... Good problems to have...
