Baller Bdecker Posted April 25, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 25, 2020 I’m headed to look at a used boat today. The seller has advised that it has 4-5 dime size “nicks” in the gelcoat under the waterline. They are factored into the price of the boat and with a white hull, I’m happy to do a DIY repair as long as they are purely superficial. Is there any signs I should be looking for to visually indicated that they are more than superficial?
Baller BraceMaker Posted April 25, 2020 Baller Share Posted April 25, 2020 I usually look for any signs of stress cracking around the chips, push on the gel around the holes firmly. Look for the laminate being disturbed/fibers sticking up. Its best if the boat has been out of the water awhile to fix those before getting the boat wet again.
