Slalom Course in Southern Illinois

Recommended Posts

First off, to the people posting on this site, Thank You! BoS is a terrific resource for people like me, long-time free skiers who are looking to improve their skills, try the course, and learn more about the gear along the way.

Two weeks ago, a neighbor of my relatives kindly offered to pull me behind his Mastercraft, which was my first experience being pulled by an actual ski boat. It was incredible--despite my form. He later mentioned a couple of course options in Southern Illinois, but I didn't press him for details.

I've never skied a course, but I've been itching to try it for the past few years. However, I don't know of any clubs or courses within a couple of hours of my home. (I did find a club near Edwardsville, IL on usawaterski.org so that may be a possibility.) I've also turned up club names from 10+ years ago (Little Egypt Water Ski Club and DuQuoin Waterski Club). I live about 1-1/2 hrs west of Evansville, IN, and I'd gladly drive there as well. I'd also expect to pay a club fee or pull fee, but I'm really not sure how this usually works.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the suggestions! @foxriverat There's a good chance I book a lesson up near Champaign.

@klindy I'll see what I can find about Paducah. I've driven past that lake many times while trying to split my attention between the interstate and the skiing. I've found the Kentucky Lake Ski Nuts facebook page in the past, so I'll see if they're still out there.

Don't hesitate to keep the suggestions coming for additional options.
