Same as everyone here has said, distributor cap and rotor. I run the same boat/engine and that’s been the solution twice now with the problem you described. Worst case, it’s a needed maintenance item anyway that is only a 5 minute change

In addition to the cap/rotor, when was last spark plug change done? Ignition coil is also a potential if the cap/rotor does not solve issue although coil issues are more typically exasperated at elevated temperatures.

The box “fuse box” you are describing is most likely the Relay/Fuse block. Yes, you have to remove it to get to the distributor cap. If you are interested in pictures of what you are looking at go to PlanetNautique.com and click on “manuals/brochures”. Scroll down to 2007 PCM parts manual. Page 38 of the manual shows the “fuse box”.

Installed new cap and rotor. Ran nearly perfect, but the plastic tab that the distributor cap screws into is all but gone. Not sure if that was the main problem and soon new cap will have issues or if that allowed condensation or shifting of cap. Any one have a thought on how to fix other than new distributor?
