Zero Off "Head Unit" in Boats with Display Screens

I'm very familiar with the original zero off systems where there was a dedicated Zero Off "Head Unit" that had it's own display. For that style system there is the Head Unit/Display, two or one GPS pucks depending on if you have the latest single puck version, and the eControls engine ECU that are all involved in the speed control.

In the latest boats that have the Zero Off controls and display built into the boat's graphic screen, is there a black box zero off head unit that contains the zero specific electronics such as the accelerometer? If so, does anyone have a picture of what it looks like or know where it's typically mounted. Assuming this is right, then these newest version would have the boat display, the black box head unit, GPS puck, and the eControls ECU involved in the speed control system.

Yes, it resembles the head unit, just no display and mounted under the dash, sorry, I don't have any pictures handy, which boat brand are you referencing? Since it does contain the accelerometer, you should find it orientated the same was an in-dash unit would be oriented. (If angled, the accelerometer would not work correctly unless set up special like the "angle-mount" Nautique one with no Linc screen.

@jpwhit on the ProStar the head unit is behind a circular black cover at the drivers feet / in the bulkhead. There are three screws holding that cover and when you pull it out the head unit is attached to the cover. Should you mess with it make sure that you put it back with the same orientation as when you pull it out. If you rotate the unit the accelerometers will no longer work correctly and the boat will feel like poop for the skier.
