First of all, want to say Hi to everyone,

I bought a 20 ft 1979 Tahiti stern drive, last spring, it had been about 40 years since I last water skied. I am 59 year old male @ 6 ft @ 190lbs . My brother gave me a Connelly XLP 71, this ski is from the 90’s but is in mint condition, skied it all summer here in New Mexico, and 3 weeks at Lake Havasu. Not skiing courses, just turning hard in open water. Want to buy a new ski and wondering what to buy? Omni? Carbon Omni? Senate? Other? Thanks

Awesome your back on the water!! Hope your having fun!! I would try and demo a few skies. I feel the Senate and Omni would be good for open water.

Moksh, where, in the lovely Land of Enchantment, do you waterski? I've been pretty much all over your state and never saw more water than a bathtub. Inquiring minds are interested. And BTW, welcome back to our great sport.

Thanks, Elephant Butte, yes it is a challenge, but skiing week days is usually good. We got down to 3 percent full, but there is a channel that was still 30 to 40 feet deep. Week day mornings are the best. Going back to Havasu for the month of April.

Moksh, See you in Havasu!! We try and and get the Refuge area in the morning when we are in town, we usually get good water. Best place to ski on the lake!

Thanks 6Balls, can’t believe I have been away this long, parents had a trailer on the Parker Strip when I was a kid, been around the world, got into Snow skiing, Sport fishing in Hawaii and a bunch of other stuff, but have come full circle, and am Stoked to make some turns at the end of a Tight rope!
