What's the story as to how it came about?

It’s called “Love in Fairhope”. It’s a Hulu series Reese Witherspoon and some others produced. My wife made me watch it because it’s our hometown and her trainer is in it, along with a few others. 
I do remember the lake owner asking us if we could go ski because there was some type of filming going on but no one could
