  1. I dislocated my shoulder slalom skiing July 13. MRI showed I had partial rotator cuff tear and labrum tear. I started easy slalom and trick skiing August 7th. Now running course and plan on jumping tomorrow. (I’m old so slow speeds in course and jump.) I’m taking PT twice a week.  I use a Sully shoulder brace when skiing and feel it keeps my shoulder more stable.  Definitely recommend the Sully brace—hardly notice I have it on.

  2. Reviving old thread. I dislocated my shoulder slalom skiing on Thursday. First time doing so. Hurt like heck. ER docs put it back in socket and everything is good. It was out about 3 hours. Unfortunately, I cannot see orthopedic doctor until the 25th and I’m supposed to use sling until that time. Looks like I’m missing Regionals and Nationals but want to ski Sr PanAms mid September. Does this seem reasonable?  Also, would like to do gentle arm movements given I will not get PT referral until seeing doctor.  Thoughts on my beginning gentle movements now.  BTW, I’m 74 female and ski all 3 events. Suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.

  3. My Facebook feed has included multiple daily posts with pictures and texts updates from the Chile Federation and Water Ski Canada. Although I have kept up with online scoring, it would have been nice to see updates posted on The USAWaterSki web page. Same thing happened during Senior PanAms. Need to recognize how our skiers are performing on a daily basis rather than waiting until conclusion of tournament and posting short blurb. Disappointed. One of the reasons I don’t check our website for current happenings.
  4. I didn’t know Chad professionally, but I did know how awesome and professionally he pulled this old, overweight woman 8 skier many times. Although I did go for 7 buoy once at Nationals when he drove me, @Jody_Seal also did that to me once at state championship—two of the best drivers ever???. Sending positive thoughts to Chad that he’s back on the water soon. Missing u at the ski dock.
  5. We built our home on Cory’s lake in 2014. It was the best thing I’ve ever done for my skiing. I’m here about10 months a year and Cory and Adam have always been available to pull me anytime I show up at the dock. The coaching and driving are excellent. Cory doesn’t let any coach or driver in the boat unless they r one of the best. Cory or Adam provides the majority of the coaching. The slalom lake (lake 2) is almost impervious to any wind. My hubby especially appreciates not having to pull me—especially jumping. He knows that the Pickos team keeps this 72 year plopper safe. The neighborhood is safe with lots of kids. Just like most of the country, property values have really increased this year. More skiers is always better for the neighborhood!!!
  6. JR will really be missed. He and Anne made everyone feel so welcome at tournaments. From having announcers and lunch vendors during the day to opening their home with wonderful music, fellowship, and dinner on Saturday night they made tournaments memorable. My condolences to Anne, family, and Ski Chaste friends.
  7. I bought two slalom handles from Randy about five or six years ago—one for me another for husband. Neither lasted full season. Grip was still good but rope that came together at the V leading into the clear tube protector frayed almost apart on both sides. I have since bought 2 handles from Brenda. No problems and love the workmanship. Was really disappointed with US Gear product.
  8. I ski behind the SN and 200. Both new models. My top speed is 30mph, so slalom at 28 and 30mph 15 and 22 off. I find the SN has softer wakes at my slalom speeds so prefer it over the 200. I don’t use ballast and like both boats for tricks but slightly prefer the 200. Love Nautiques. Consider myself lucky to ski behind both boats.
  9. Did the webcast announcers even have access to the skiers bio? I know that I completed mine. There were only three women 8 trick skiers (my division). The announcer did not provide any information other than the names of the skiers. It would have been nice if at least the state residence of the skiers had been announced. Also, would have been good to provide information that Women 8 included skiers ages 70-75. Again, not sure if bio was provided to webcast announcers. Regardless, great to have webcast.
  10. Given the recent rise in virus cases, it would be good to reconsider regionals mandatory in order to ski Nationals. I am a w8 overall skier and am qualified to ski Nationals. My non-skier husband is 74 and recently recovered from a significant heart attack. I have already registered for both Regionals and Nationals. It would be awesome if I could just pay the entry fee and skip Regionals this year—less risk for both hubby and me. Some of you would say just leave him at home, but he’s really good at carrying jump skis and pulling release (ha ha). I’m not suggesting this as a long term solution but only for this season. Does anyone know if AWSA leadership is considering this as a possibility?
