  1. My Senate Graphite showed up last week. I bought this as motivation to lose 50 lbs and get back in shape. I will never ski this to it's full potential (haven't been on a course in 8 yrs) but had a great time at the Colo River/Blythe this week. Also, thanks for the website. I took a pic to let the sponsors know their ads on this site work (PerfSki, Radar & Kilo Kai). The guys at Radar and Perf Ski were great as well. Thanks, Tom
  2. Pretty wide open topic: I would want to see how many oil changes/services were done (via receipts/repair orders). Motors themselves are typically not your problem. What connects to them Oil/Spark/ANYTHING RUBBER may be your issue. Most 6 yr old boats have/offered ballast, I'd validate their operation. If the engine had any winterizing, say Year 3, with 2 to 3 oil changes, parked inside, I'd say you have a definite winner (especially if you can wrench it yourself). You can get the maintenance back on track with the dollars saved from not buying new. Personally: 89 MC ProStar. Carb was rebuilt for the first time in 2013. Total hours under 500. At the end of the day, I have a Ford Engine with overbuilt Marinization. It's the Trailer tires about every 3 years. I wear out the sides from sitting. If this boat is a wakeboard boat, then I would be more skeptical, definitely check the ballast and all the other functions. The tend to pile on hours, albeit very low stress hours compared to a comp/slalom boat. That's a whole other topic.
  3. 6 Balls has it right. You can only go as fast as they are ready: Vest & Skis/Board on, in the water, boat passengers down. For that age: Boom & HEAVY "Chiefs" in the boat, sitting on the boom side to "feed/lower" the boom via their weight, once grabbed by the skier, have them move to the middle. Your skier is now basically out of the water (see pic). Put the boat in gear and snap a lot of pics! This is is my 4th grade daughter, after the boom is feed/rec'd, about to put in gear. You can see how much of her body is out of the water once we shifted the weight. If you had this down, I would say you would max out at 5/hour if the girls are out in the water waiting on you. If you have this system, you will need more boats!! My daughter & 4 friends went from day 1 boarding, first attempt, to 5" bridle off boom, to long line, back to boom for 180* turns by the end of day 1. Day 2 - no boom, and when is it my turn came up a lot. As GregHind said, no falls the better + a lot of encouragement. Once up for 100 Yds, I made them let go and "sink/fall" in the water - to loud applause. I would get them back up and do it all over. In the car, they only talked about their wipeouts...... at about 9 mph, the dads were all cracking up. BTW - bring plenty of fire water. You deserve it. Good on you for doing this.
  4. I feel your pain. You will be happy to know the regulators have "helped protect" the consumers with their Home Loans. Many of your loan fees will soon be "baked" in to the rate....that will be paid over the LIFE of the loan. Also, with Flood Insurance. Check out the Waters/Biggert Flood Insurance Act that was PASSED. Now, Waters is out asking for a repeal of her own Bill due to "unintended consequences", un-affordable Flood Insurance per her matrix. We must remember, these people were voted in to office.
  5. We dropped our portable course in around 15 times between 1995-2002 without any problem. We were in between Temple Bar Marina and the River inlet. Unless you drop out of the Temple Bar Marina and head East, you may have issues that Wolfeie brings up.
  6. Hello Ballers: My name is Tom Bennett, 48 yrs old. (6'4", 255lbs., referenced for a question later) I have been a lurker for a while. I grew up skiing/barefooting/tricking in Fresno, CA. My family went from a TriHull to a MC PS 190. I now live in So. Cal. I have a 89 MC PS, still in Fresno with my Brothers. In So. Cal, I ski behind my Brother in Laws 90 MC PS (mostly salt water). From about 20-30ish, my now brother in law and I would take several House Boat trips to Lake Mead and drop in our course. Starting the family, less skiing. Late 30's/early 40's, I utilized the best known secret called Cutting Edge Water School for training/ski time/instruction. 5 minutes from my house, Skiing with reserved time slots --Brilliant! Unfortunately, some city officials shut this down. I have skied a course once since then. I re-caught the bug after my son 20 yr. old sons baseball dreams ended this summer with a torn UCL. This summer, we skied numerous times, as a family. Now, my son and my daughter are both getting addicted. I am trying to use skiing/threat of joining a club/spending $$'s on a new ski as a motivation to drop 30 lbs. I am on a 2013, 71" Triumph. I could maybe squeeze 15 off at 34. This used to be easy for me. I would like to relegate the Triumph for training. YES, I do realize the ski now has more potential than me right now. I am looking to buy a more Course oriented ski for my size/lbs this Spring. Thoughts?? Great website, great community. Thanks to the banner sponsors too.
