  1. I ordered a new GPS unit and got shipped to FL in one day… I’ll send back my old unit to have it updated to keep as a spare for me or my other ski friends. I’m not going to let a small cost get in the way of making our skiing experience fun this summer.
  2. I do have one other off-topic question but about Perfectpass, a friend of mine has a boat and right now his display is showing something different than mine..... In the upper right corner of the main screen (with GPS locked), where there is the up arrow in the little square box he has a - in the little square box what does that mean?
  3. Thanks everybody for the continued conversation on this topic. I went back and used auto Cal to re-calibrate my baselines And according to this process my baselines had been 100 RPMs too low. (Reminder I have a 2000 SN with a GT- 40, version 9.12, Acme 422 propeller.) I also set the crew weight accurate to the one person in the boat for my solo autoclave run. After using auto Cal I started with the background settings for normal: even on all segments @ 25 25 25. After a couple of skiers at 34mph, 22 & 28 off I settled on background settings for normal @35 35 28 by focusing on at adjusting the two ball and four ball times using “Ball one and Ball 3” in the settings respectively. This was a huge success and my buoy times are within .01 on all segments with no surging, or weird behavior, short set up and long set ups. Factory settings for Kx normal, zbox is 8, abc 0 Thanks to everybody here who has helped with this approach of focusing on gettting a baseline set to get accurate “ball 0” time and adjusting the backgrounds to get accurate times at ball 2 &4...that has solved the problem of weird times and surging for me. I’m done adjusting now just skiing :-)
  4. Asking for help... anyone have great settings for NORMAL @ 34mph. 28-35 off skier, 2000 SN GT-40, w/ zbox, acme 422 prop.... crew weight at 200, ski A1 sometimes + I looked on the shared document and wasn’t sure if there was a baot mine listed there? Looked like all 2002s? That’s a different hull.... Curious on baseline RPMs, background settings (ball 1,3,to exit) zbox, abc, KX etc. We have a short set up at one end although it’s not ridiculously short, we commonly seem to have problems there with the boat surging past two to get to three and four. I’ve tried going back to the stock settings I’m working up from there but I’m just not having much luck. Thanks for any help!
  5. I’ve got a bunch of parts what do you still need?
  6. Regular old shelf brackets screwed thru into wall studs, with foam pipe insulation on shelf supports... don’t forget the kegerator ;-)
  7. I’ve been skiing on radar strata/vapor bindings for years and I’ve got nothing but great things to say about what they have done for my skiing. All four of my ski partners have moved to these as well. Taking the liners out of the boots so the rubber in the heel area is able to air dry and not stay damp has been the key to several years of use. If this isn’t an option, storing in a climate controlled environment might be best. Of the guys that didn’t take this extra precaution, their bindings rubber heal sections seemed to grow brittle after a year or so. Dry rot may be the culprit if the dampness of the liners stays against the rubber. This is just my theory on 5 diierent skiers who are all loving their radar bindings.
  8. @slalom frog thanks So much for your invitation and hospitality! Wish you were closer. Let me take a look at the map figure out how long it might take me to get there. Your boat looks beautiful! Thanks everybody else for the wonderful comments and helpful hints. If any of y’all make it to the Sebago Lake area let me know So we can take a set or two!
  9. Thanks! I also have access to a Malibu and a course near me too... but need some fellow addicts who like early morning buoy chasing during the week... I’m short on codependent ski partners!
  10. “Hello my name is John and I’m an addict.....”. Looking to team up with some fellow ski-addicts that have a course set up and would be willing to let me join them for time to time or consistently throughout the summer. Of course happy to bring gas, cash or beer (or all three) whatever is acceptable payment :-) I’m 50yr, skiing -32 @ 34mph off skier and decent driver. I have a flexible hours and am willing to travel. Currently living in Sebago.
  11. Saw this in Newark airport.. Made me proud!
  12. @DefectiveDave‌ 14 years ago my ski partner and I went through months of effort to permit and install a bottom anchored course. It was tons of work, lots of cash, and not easy. To this day we still have a wonderful place to ski and teach the next generations. Many new ski friends have made it their place to ski and our skiing circle is growing. My son made his first full pass this year and now loves the sport. Don't for a minute get discouraged about resurrecting a bit of family history!! Congrats on your efforts of carrying on a great tradition of passion for a wonderful lifestyle and sport!!!
  13. @bishop8950‌ Thanks for the contact info there in NJ! I've skied REALLY short set-ups in some of the puddles we call lakes in the Orlando area... I'm happy with anything that has buoys!
  14. I'm up in that area a lot for business and would really like to find some folks that would take in a jittery middle-aged course skier looking to get a fix while away from business for long stretches of time.... Willing to trade beer, gas, money, food and even bad advise for a pull through a course after work hours. I've been skiing a course for years, not well of course, but can at least drive, wax the boat, repair the course, put in buoys and occasionally get through -35 for some real crowd pleasing fun!
  15. @mac, Just like @nzwaterski and @Gloersen I picked up a Neil Pryde impact vest after I broke my ribs in the same type of -35 fall after 5ball. The honeycomb mesh and more rigid padding under that, seemed to give me the confidence that I was safer after I healed. There used to be a wakeboard vest, maybe liquid force, that had similar mesh rib protection as well. The mesh did rub on the inner parts of my arms by my elbows, but a simple long sleeve heater shirt in the spring, followed by a long sleeve rash guard in the summer, worked like a charm. All this happened about 10 years ago... as I've gotten older, I'm trying not to take bad falls. Skiing is more fun than recovering for 6-8 weeks as only a driver for my ski partners. :-)
  16. this is what it's going to be like for us tomorrow morning.... sorry Fitzy
  17. The calmest afternoon of the year on the huge Sebago lake I learned to ski on in Maine at 5:00pm on a Friday back in late Sept... unfortunately for my friend I grew up skiing with ready to hop in, it was his last ski of the year. I'm back in FL... skiing tomorrow. Happy Happy Happy!
  18. @wish http://www.usawaterski.org/speedcontrol/zerooffpresentation.pdf goto page 30, this might be what you are looking for. Hope all is well with you!
  19. @Horton: Thanks for all you do with this site and providing feedback for all of us! I too have been trying some new skis at the end of this season. Have been on Stradas for past few years, decided to try some used skis, started with a 2012 Goode N1 65.25. For me, it feels like it doesn't draw errors and is extremely forgiving, but a good amount of effort needed. I skied as good if not better than usual in practice. Then I got on a 2013 N1 66" (which oddly enough has much sharper bevels than 2012 65.25" N1... not sure if it might actually be a XT prototype...) That 66" ski draws a few more errors but I was able to ski the same buoys as the N1 with a little less effort. So to answer your question; I like the addition of your new matrix... I want a ski that scores high buoy counts, but I don't want to feel like it is a crazy ride to get there.
