  1. 80's Connelly Tournament Fin. The holes are for the wing.
  2. I just saw this commercial on CMT. Wow! Two commercials currently running with skiing.
  3. A blurry picture from a 1977 book claiming the holes are for pressure relief: Interesting that Joel McClintock doesn't even mention fins in his book from 1980. Like @Lovell‌ I also used a Connelly "Tournament" fin with wing and no holes in the early 80's. It was an aftermarket item - the ski came standard with a fin with holes. Did it make a difference? It's too long ago for me to remember if I even compared them.
  4. @Bookm_dano‌ Just when you think you've done something unique, you find someone has already done it or done it better. Last winter I found on youtube a barefoot video of someone doing one foot backwards naked in about 40 degree water. There was also one of a guy doing a naked backward deepwater start at night... imagine that. You know what that takes? He probably doesn't have'm anymore. Of course these were both on a boom, so I wouldn't count'em as records.
  5. @Edbrazil‌ They certainly have some outrageous goals. Most single people on a disc goal of 20! Maybe you can get on that disc with the group and set the "most people on a disc simultaneously turning without stopping" for 108 turns for a new record! :D
  6. @Matt_M‌ You could certainly tumble at lower speeds, it's planting your feet that may be a problem if the boat doesn't have enough power. Sneakers might give you enough extra lift to keep you going without dragging the boat speed down too much. Try starting off of a kneeboard, wakeskate, or innertube.
  7. @Edbrazil‌ consecutive turns in same direction? Continuous turning or stop between each turn? What was the criteria for judging the 1/2 turn? This sounds like it could be a better variation of spinning around a baseball bat and heading for a target... It HAS to be a world record in any case :D
  8. @andjules scarey! Can you imagine if he was sitting in the passenger seat? @MattP‌ really!? driving from the passenger seat AND releasing!? Who would let you do that either together or driving alone? (or is this a 'can't prove it'?)
  9. @andjules‌ I posted the ping pong paddle skiing a while ago in another thread somewhere here, something like 'other things you do besides slalom'. Also, you reminded me of another "achievement". I was the top of a 3-man pyramid in a ski show, except the bottom was women  (I have video of that, too).
  10. @TEL 1981 MC - Are the floor and stringers are still solid, or did you have to replace those? I had a '77 MC and the driver's seat was sinking into the floor by the time I sold it in 1983... I had to prop it up with a coffee can.
  11. Not LFF RFF specific - look at the line in the spray off the right side. Looks to be more than a bevel transition as @AdamCord‌ suggested, but what do I know.
  12. So not an SFE, a new FSE from MC - the French Side Enhancer, built into the mold? :)
  13. I see this as sort of a Festivus "Feats of Strength" thread. When do the "Airing of Grievances" begin?
  14. I have several unique (non-standard AND no-one-else-cares) tricks, most with photographic evidence. They are: TBFMD - Toe Back Full Moon Deep water start DWHBPSS - Deep Water Handle Back Paddle Start and Step-off DWHFPPS - Deep Water Handles Front Ping-Pong Paddles Start (Still need to master the step-off) FFSH5S - Front Foot Step-out Hang Five and Step-off (trick ski) BFlBBW - Back Flip Behind Boston Whaler DWOHOFS - Deep Water One Hand One Foot Start (slalom and trick)
  15. @chef23 I would say probably not hard at all. I was down in October and it was almost our own private lake at the north end where the jump is located. Very few people use the jump or trick lake. Not many use the course by the turnpike at that end, it's a little shorter setup than the others. You might have to wait to use the course on the main lake, east-west course, or turnpike course next to the main lake. It's winter down there for those guys too... they get cold if it's 75 degrees. It's not a free-for-all. You do have to have a permit for your boat, and your boat has to meet certain requirements. I'm not sure if there are any special rules for using the jump, maybe a club member can answer that question.
  16. @usaski1‌ That's certainly food for thought. Too bad we gave our jump away a few years ago.
  17. Way back I thought jumping was the addiction - I quit it cold turkey. I thought I'd rather walk later in life. I still vividly remember the falls. It was like slow motion. "#$*(! this is gonna hurt! ... THUD... and then I'd go back for another few cuts at the ramp.
  18. @Brady See the in memoriam of the Nov/Dec Water Skier.
  19. How about a Doozie, https://www.itsadoozie.com/ , owned by fellow Eastern Region skier Lewis Fields?
  20. @DanE - That was me. It happened in 1978 - I still have a scar on my heel to remember the occasion. It was a pretty deep cut.
  21. @bbirlew‌ The name for your app should be IPA ...the Instant Pass Analyzer. "Skiing poorly? IPA can help!" (please use responsibly)
  22. Lines like this are found in found in the log file: 370323: FLASH TASK: Data file 0:\Trace\data-141028-00-47-45-000.trc created. I assume those are probably proprietary binary files.
